Samsung Galaxy S21 5G vs Galaxy S10 5G: Differences and Prices

It is usually said that it is approximately every two generations, where significant changes are really appreciated between the different models of the same family. Following this premise, it is logical that there are many users with the Galaxy S10 in their hands, they are considering buying the Galaxy S21. But on the other hand, we think of those users who without having either of the two generations, may be hesitating between buying the Galaxy S21 5G or the discounted Galaxy S10 5G.

After all, a high-end range has more travel than other terminals, since when they go on sale, they do so at the forefront of the technology of the moment. This is what happens with the Galaxy S10 5G, which, contrary to what it might seem, is still capable of fighting many of the high-end products that are launched in 2021, including the Galaxy S21 itself. We will see how the classic advances of the passage of time are insurmountable for the Galaxy S10 5G, but how in others it remains superior.

Screen, weight and thickness

The first thing we look at is the screen, where we find the first big difference. The Galaxy S21 5G has a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel , with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and compatible with HDR10 +. In addition, this panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, the hardest glass in Corning history. This terminal has a hole to house your selfie sensor and a 20: 9 format

However, the Galaxy S10 5G has a much larger panel, reaching 6.7 inches and with a much higher resolution, 1440 x 3040 pixels. However, its format is less panoramic with 19: 9 and is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. It is also compatible with HDR10 +, but in this case the refresh rate remains at 60 Hz. Both terminals are resistant to water and dust thanks to its IP68 certificate.

Something that catches our attention is that the Galaxy S10 5G has a better screen / frame ratio, with 89.4% of the front usable, compared to 87.2% of the Galaxy S21 5G. The featherweight is for the S21 with its 169 grams, compared to the 198 grams of the S10 5G, but we see that both terminals tie with 7.9 millimeters of thickness.

Exynos Brains

In the performance section, we see how the two terminals have the Exynos seal. Specifically, the Galaxy S21 with the new 5nm Exynos 2100, which comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of non-expandable internal memory. For its part, the Galaxy S10 5G has an Exynos 9820, 8nm, which is also accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB with a superior variant of 512 GB of storage, which cannot be expanded either.

Exynos-2100

There is a difference in the file system, counting the S21 5G with the UFS 3.1 standard versus the UFS 2.1 standard of the Galaxy S10 5G. If we take all this set of hardware and go through a benchmarking program such as AnTuTu, we see how the Galaxy S21 5G touches 650,000 points, compared to 416,000 points for the Galaxy S10 5G. Both will be able to carry out any task that is required of a high-end, but logically the new model will have a longer journey in time.

Difference in cameras

There is a substantial difference in the cameras of both generations. The Galaxy S21 5G once again sports a 64 megapixel main sensor, accompanied by 12 megapixel wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle sensors. For its part, the Galaxy S10 5G has one more sensor, sporting four rear cameras with wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle sensors of 12 and 16 megapixels each, a 12 megapixel telephoto sensor and a fourth ToF 3D sensor.

On the front, the Galaxy S21 5G has a single 16-megapixel selfie sensor, while the Galaxy S10 5G has two 10-megapixel sensors and a ToF 3D sensor. If we take into account the video recording capabilities, the new model raises the bar by being able to record video in 8K resolution at 24 fps , while the S10 5G can do so at a maximum of 4K. However, with the front camera they are both capable of recording 4K video.

Connections and battery

The two terminals can be connected to 5G networks , something in which the S21 5G does not gain an advantage either. However, it is the Galaxy from two years ago that is the only one that maintains the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is no longer part of Samsung’s high-end range. None lack NFC, Bluetooth 5, or USB-C, as well as an on-screen fingerprint sensor.

The differences in the battery also play in favor of the Galaxy S10 5G, since it has 4,500 mAh and fast charging of 25W, wireless charging of 15W and reverse charging of 3.5W. The same charging technology that we find in the Galaxy S21 5G, but with a smaller battery, 4,000 mAh.

If we take into account the updates and according to Samsung’s policy, the Galaxy S10 5G will end its days with Android 12, while the Galaxy S21 will come to know Android 14. Currently, both terminals move with Android 11, so at the level of One UI functionalities, its performance is similar.

And how are the prices?

Taking these aspects into account, right now we can buy a Galaxy S21 5G on sale for 777 euros , in its 128 GB variant. For its part, the Galaxy S10 5G has dropped a lot in price and right now it can be ours for 599 euros , taking into account that it is a 256 GB variant that doubles the capacity of its brother.
