In the middle of the technological era, applications such as Google Digital Wellbeing are increasingly necessary. Smartphones addiction is a reality, and it is especially accentuated in young people and teenagers who have grown up with them. Having a control over the hours of screen that we invest per day in our devices is very necessary , since with the large amount of information that we handle in a single day, we can miss it completely.
Google Digital Wellbeing is an application that allows us to monitor and control a lot of aspects such as the total time we spend with our mobile, the individual time we spend with each app, the number of notifications that have come along of the day, as well as the number of times we unlock the mobile daily. Thanks to this information that is offered to us in a very visual way, we can get an idea of whether we spend a lot of time with the mobile or not.
This app allows us to configure multiple settings to rest from our device and help us disconnect and focus on real life. The application has a work profile , and offers different ways to disconnect and reduce daily interruptions . It also has a section of parental control , in order to keep our children under a track of mobile use.
How to set up Google Digital Wellbeing
Setting up this application is quite simple and intuitive . First, we must download the application from the Google app store, whose link I leave below:
As we can see, it is a very visual and intuitive interface that gives us information about every aspect of the use time that we give to each application of our mobile.
First, we can configure the control panel section. This can help us to place a timer on the app we want. We click on the control panel, and if for example we waste a lot of time with Instagram, we can place a maximum daily use time by clicking on the icon of the hourglass on the right and we set a maximum time that we think is convenient. Once that time is over we will get a warning that it is enough for today:
We can also set a rest mode and a mode without distractions . The rest mode allows us to establish a start and end time in which we want a blue light filter and / or a gray scale filter to be activated so that, at night for example, the light does not bother us the view and alter the vital rhythms. The mode without distractions allows us to establish a schedule to avoid notifications in applications that are annoying because they distract us from our daily tasks and obligations, such as work or study, which is often diminished by typical group notifications and of mentions of Whatsapp or Instagram.
The next thing we can do is manage the notifications of our device, allowing us to deactivate those we consider unnecessary, that simple. Secondly, the application allows us to configure a non-disturb mode , in which we can select a time interval where we will only receive notifications and calls from those who interest us, being able to configure the sound, silence and vibration profiles to our liking .
Finally, we can configure a parental control to have full knowledge of the applications our children use and how much time they invest in them. It is very simple to configure, and only requires an extra app ( family link ) to monitor the screen of your smartphone from ours.
