Xiaomi Mi 11 Camera Tests. The Good and the Bad

Since the Xiaomi Mi 11 was officially presented, there has been a lot of talk about the improvements it brought with it, including giving a lot of value to the cameras, but nevertheless it is not up to the amount of seeing them in action when we can begin to draw conclusions. . In this case, the DxOMark camera tests let us see those strong and weak points of its lenses.

The camera composition of the Xiaomi Mi 11 already lets us see before seeing its tests that there are aspects in which it would limp and this has been the case. Although there is no doubt that the 108 Mpx of the main camera is a great point in its favor, when we look further, not finding a telephoto lens puts it in trouble before other competitors.

A huge upgrade for Xiaomi’s high-end

The first thing we observe in the tests obtained with the Mi 11, is that the manufacturer has finally taken a leap forward to try to compete with the top terminals of Samsung, OPPO or Huawei. It has managed to get away from those unrealistic textures that they appreciate in their models, something that is closely related to the improvements in the processing of the photos and of course in the 108 Mpx of its main lens. Distortion can also be controlled with the wide angle, maintaining good results.

The best ones are also noted in terms of white balance, where previously in China the device could give what was desired there, but nevertheless in Spain and other European countries tastes are very different. Now the skin tone is more representative of reality. The HDR also does its job, allowing to show a worthy result in the most difficult situations such as backlighting. When it comes to taking portraits, we also see a high-level cutout. And the video together with the optical image stabilizer is another of the points to save that has behaved better.

The weak points of the cameras of the Mi 11

Undoubtedly, as we have already been warning, the lack is in the telephoto lens, so DxOMark has given a low score at long distances . We lose that added point of looking further and that makes it rank behind terminals such as the iPhone 12 or the Mi Note 10 itself.

Other negative points that he has shown are in the exhibition, where the terminal suffers to find the correct variation automatically. When we lack good light, noise is also noticeable in the image and, just as before the color in the photo was valued, it is a negative point in the video where all the points of previous generations have not yet been corrected, tending to Sub expose the results.
