WhatsApp Will Allow You to Choose the Quality of the Photos: Compressed or Not

WhatsApp Will Allow You to Choose the Quality of the Photos

Sending photos on WhatsApp is probably the second most common thing we do in the app after sending text messages. The application initially compressed the photos a lot, and little by little it increased the resolution of the images that we sent. It also started allowing the sending of images without compression if we sent them as a file. Now, we will be able to choose it more comfortably.

With Telegram, sending photos is quite comfortable, since we can send them directly compressed, or do it without compression so that they maintain the same original quality. This feature has been around for years, and is fairly easy to use; especially from the computer, where by dragging we can choose one or another shipping method with ease.

With WhatsApp, sending until now was quite uncomfortable, having to send the photos as documents, or upload them to Google Drive or Photos to be able to send the links without compression. Luckily, WABetaInfo has discovered that in the latest beta of WhatsApp the code has appeared to be able to send photos without compression in a comfortable way, with three new functionalities that will make everything faster.

3 options: automatic, better quality or savings

Specifically, there will be three quality modes to choose from when sending a photo. The first will be Automatic , which will allow WhatsApp to decide whether or not to compress the photos depending on the speed of our network, or if we are on a WiFi network or with data on the mobile . It is also possible that it analyzes the connection of the receiver to make the decision and not to melt the data rate.

The second option that appears is the one of Better quality . With this option, the app will allow us to send the photo with the highest quality, although it is not clear if there will be a loss of quality in the WhatsApp photos or if they will be sent in original quality. They will likely choose to send the photos at their original resolution, but applying appreciable lossless compression like Google Photos does, which leaves photos at half quality with hardly any visible compression.

Finally, we have the third option, which will be Data Saving , where the images will be compressed to save data and storage space.

Video compression will also be improved

These options will be chosen from the app’s settings, and in principle they cannot be chosen from the application’s own photo sending section. Therefore, we will have to change it as we become interested when sending content. The function is still under development, so we will have to wait at least a few weeks or months to see it on our phones.

WhatsApp is also working on similar options to compress video quality , and hopefully both features will arrive more or less at the same time.
