Best Farm Games for Mac and MacBook: Compatibility Compared

Updated on

Try Stardew Valley for relaxed farming on your MacBook. Look at Farm Together to build a farm with friends, or Farming Simulator 25 for tractors and detailed farm work. Roots of Pacha adds a village you help grow. All four list a Mac version. Before buying, check your Mac’s chip, macOS version and the app used to launch the game.

Mac farming games compared

Game Best fit What your Mac needs How you buy it
Stardew Valley Crops, relationships, exploration and a long-term personal farm. Steam lists a Mac build, 2 GB RAM and 500 MB storage. Check the current launcher requirements as well. Paid game; optional multiplayer.
Farm Together Building and decorating a growing farm, alone or with friends. Mac requirements name an Intel Core i5 and 2 GB minimum RAM; 6 GB is recommended. Confirm your current Mac configuration. Paid game; optional additional content.
Roots of Pacha A farming and community game with a prehistoric setting. Mac listing specifies macOS 10.15+, 4 GB RAM and 2 GB video memory; the Steam client can require a newer OS. Paid game with co-op features.
Farming Simulator 25 Vehicles, field work and agricultural production. Steam lists macOS 11.3+, Apple M1 or qualifying Intel hardware, 8 GB RAM and 50 GB storage; M1 Pro and 16 GB RAM are recommended. Paid game; check the edition and included expansions.

The table uses store requirements checked on November 2, 2026. We have not measured frame rates or battery life. Requirements can differ by store and edition, so open the Mac tab on Steam rather than using the Windows specifications.

Steam may need a newer macOS than the game

Some game pages still list very old macOS versions. Steam ended support for macOS 11 on October 15, 2025 and points users to macOS 12 or later. A game may list macOS 10.10, but that does not mean today’s Steam app will run on it.

Open Apple menu > About This Mac to find your chip, memory and macOS version. Check these against both the game and its launcher. Be careful with old Mac games: a Mac logo on an old store page does not mean a 32-bit game will run on a newer macOS.

Which game should you choose?

Stardew Valley for a personal farm and varied activities

Stardew Valley mixes crops with friendships and exploring. Its listed hardware needs are lower than those of a modern farming simulator with detailed machinery. It is a useful place to start on a less powerful MacBook. You still need to check your model; we cannot promise a frame rate or support for every old Mac.

Farm Together for building a farm with friends

Farm Together is about growing and decorating your farm, alone or with friends. Check the original game’s Mac page. A sequel or a console or mobile edition may have different support. The Mac requirements name an Intel processor. If you have an Apple-silicon Mac and the listing is unclear, ask the developer before buying.

Roots of Pacha for a community-focused farming game

Roots of Pacha combines farming with helping a community grow. Check its memory and graphics needs against your Mac, especially if you have an older model with integrated graphics. To play with friends, you also need compatible game versions and the right online setup.

Farming Simulator 25 for machinery and production

Farming Simulator 25 needs more powerful hardware than the other games here. The publisher lists a Mac edition and Apple M1 support. Check the processor, graphics and free storage needed for your store’s version. Requirements for an older Farming Simulator do not tell you whether 25 will run.

Check your Mac’s chip and multiplayer support

“Supports Mac” does not always mean a game was built to run directly on Apple silicon. An Intel version may need Rosetta, and some old games will still be incompatible. Look for a clear answer from the store or developer about your chip and macOS version.

Before playing together, check everyone’s platform, game version, add-ons and mods. A multiplayer label does not mean a Mac can join every console or mobile version. If you prefer building cities to growing crops, see our Mac city-building game guide.
