Our mobile is full of confidential files. That is why it is sometimes necessary to be able to hide content, whether in the form of photos, videos or some applications. Many manufacturers integrate standard solutions to help us with this task, as is the case with the Secure Folder, available on Samsung Galaxy.
This One UI software creates a private and encrypted space on Galaxy phones as they are part of the Samsung Knox security platform. Applications and data transferred to this tool are stored securely and separately on the device. This provides an additional layer of security and privacy to better protect them from malicious attacks or from people who may have access to our device at certain times.
how to use
In order to activate the Secure Folder on Samsung, we will have to slide a finger up or down to access the Applications screen. Once inside we enter Settings and select Biometric data and security.
Then, we will have to touch on this tool and click on Continue. The next step is to access our Samsung account and enter the unlock pattern or pin. Now this One UI security tool is ready to use.
In addition, before creating it completely, we must log in with our Samsung account. So, if you don’t have one yet, now is the time to sign up. Basically, because without it you won’t be able to start using this One UI security tool.
Add what you want
The meaning of the Secure Folder is to be able to add files, applications, photos or videos. Everything that we consider confidential can go inside this. To do this, it will be as simple as entering it and clicking on the bottom where it says ‘Add’. Now the application will give us the option to select between files or applications.
If we select the first option, we will navigate through the system files to be able to select photos from the gallery, videos and other files . By marking applications we can see a list of all those installed on the system in order to protect them safely.
In this way, we will be able to hide the photos and videos of a Samsung mobile easily and without anyone noticing.
Enable auto lock
In order to have more security in this tool, it is convenient to activate the automatic lock of the Secure Folder. In this way, we can determine a time interval for the Folder to be automatically blocked.
Thus, we can select between ‘Immediately’, and times between 5, 10 and 30 minutes. In addition, we can mark that the Secure Folder is locked when the phone restarts.
In order to activate the function and once inside the configuration of this tool, we touch the three points at the top and enter Settings. Next, tap on Secure Folder Auto-Lock and select one of the options mentioned above.
Hide Secure Folder
Since we are involved in the privacy flour, nothing like hiding the Secure Folder once we have all the content in a safe place . This will prevent it from being viewed by third parties even though it is password protected. To do so, we enter the Settings of this software and tap on the Show option. Then, we tap on Hide and the tool will disappear from the home screen and applications.
To re-enter this tool, we must go to Settings> Biometric data and security> Secure Folder.
Make a backup
Nor can you forget to have a backup of all the content stored in the Secure Folder. In order to make a backup, we enter the tool and click on the three points at the top to access the Settings.
Once inside we touch on Copy and restore and enter with our Samsung account. Then we tap on Backup Secure Folder data and check the categories. Finally, we click on Backup and wait for the process to be completed.
Turn it off whenever you want
Just as activating it on a Samsung Galaxy is really quick and easy, the same thing happens when we want to disable it on the South Korean firm’s device. To achieve this, we will have to go back to the Settings app> tap on the Biometric data and security section> Secure Folder> More settings> click on Uninstall .
At that moment, the smartphone will ask us if we really want to do it. In addition, it clarifies that we can move the files out of it before uninstalling. And very important, be careful not to turn off the terminal. Afterward, confirm the action and wait for the Samsung to deactivate.
Configure the app
It will not only help us to hide the photos on a Samsung Galaxy mobile , in addition to the apps or files, but we will also be able to modify different elements such as the unlocking method or the icon itself that we will continually see from this native One UI application.
Customize your icon
If we are tired of always seeing the same icon of this native app, don’t worry, because One UI will let us change the style at any time. To do this, we must first access this application, enter the unlock code or method, touch the three points and, finally, click on Personalize .
Once inside, we can change the name, although, the most important thing is that we can select a custom icon. When we choose one, we will click on Apply.
Put another blocking method
Just like in the beginning, when we activated Samsung Secure Folder , we could choose the unlock method, we can also change it later whenever we want. We just have to enter the app> Settings> Lock type. Select the one you like the most at that moment and voila, you will have already changed it on your phone with One UI.
Download an app inside the folder
Not only can we include the apps that we had installed on the South Korean firm’s device, but it also offers us the option of downloading applications directly to it from the Play Store or Galaxy Store .
First, we must enter this tool > Add (+ icon) > select the app store from which you want to download the application > hit Install, and that’s it, you’ll have it inside the folder itself.
