After Huawei‘s latent war with the United States that we all know, Xiaomi received a small stick a couple of weeks ago, due to its inclusion in the United States blacklist. In this list, the US includes Chinese companies that according to intelligence, it considers to be controlled by the Chinese government or military. This has been categorically denied by Xiaomi, but for the moment, this decision blocks American investments in the company.
Since then, Xiaomi is struggling to try to reverse the situation, which at the moment does not affect in the same way that we have seen with Huawei. That is, Xiaomi continues with its intact ties with Google to integrate the famous GMS. The Chinese company has already filed a lawsuit in the District of Columbia court to defend itself and try to be removed from a list, which also hurts the company’s plans.
No possibility of installing GMS in China
Now we see a new movement in history, which although it does not affect western Xiaomi users, it does put the terminals marketed in China and all those who want to use GMS in trouble. As reported by ITHome, several users are having problems installing Google Mobile Services (GMS) on their Xiaomi mobiles. Apparently, the restrictions have arisen after the launch of MIUI 12.5. The manufacturer has responded, stating that it no longer allows users to install or download Google applications, due to its policies, something that happens on devices that do not have them installed by default.
Xiaomi official forums in China
It is common that in China, most smartphones arrive without the GMS installed. However, the option for foreign workers or users who wanted to have this possibility was latent today in Xiaomi terminals. According to the same source, there is still no specific list of affected devices, but cases have been reported in terminals such as the Redmi K30 Ultra or the Redmi 10X 5G, which no longer support the download of GMS applications.

How does it affect us?
This news does not affect Xiaomi phones that are marketed outside of China at all, that is, the global version of MIUI. The only people who may have a problem are those who continue to buy these import terminals when a model does not reach our market. It can also affect Western users who live or work in the Asian country, and need to have the Google applications they are used to. However, the official thread of the open topic in Xiaomi’s official forums in China, also begins to fill with national users outraged with the decision.
