Windows 11 Loses More Windows 10 Features: User Anger

Windows 11 introduces many new features compared to Windows 10. At a visual level we find many improvements, and under it we also find performance improvements thanks for example to the DirectStorage API, which will allow games to load faster. However, Windows 11 has lost some functionalities over Windows 10, and users are especially infuriated with one of them.

According to the latest leaks, Windows 11 will arrive in October. The operating system is practically finished, and it only remains to polish some small aspects. As always, it is important to wait a couple of months for all drivers and programs to be updated and thus avoid compatibility problems.

Windows 11 Loses More Windows 10 Features: User Anger

Windows 11 loses more features from Windows 10

Also, it may be helpful to wait that long for Microsoft to fix some operating system features. The company is receiving all the feedback and opinions from those who are testing the builds for Insiders, and some of those opinions are not very positive.

For example, the fact that they have removed the option to put the taskbar vertically or at the top has been widely criticized. The company announced all the things that it was going to remove with Windows 11 , such as that apps cannot customize the bar, or that some icons no longer appear in the system tray.

However, there is another change that was not detailed there: the disappearance of all the functionalities available when right-clicking on the bar , as well as the possibility of dragging elements to a program or app so that it opens in it. The right-click one was to be expected considering that now all taskbar settings are controlled from the Settings menu. But removing the drag function is pointless.

Currently, in Windows 10, if for example we have Photoshop open, we can drag an image to the program, and it will be maximized to open in full screen. Now, this will not be able to be done in Windows 11. Also, you cannot drag shortcuts from a program to pin a program to the taskbar, another inexplicable behavior.

The company has acknowledged that this is not a bug, but rather a behavior that works as it should, as the drag-and-drop function is not present. However, they say that this type of feedback will help them in the future to see what to do with functions like this.

The networks are filled with complaints

Users have been quick to complain about this, stating that there is no point in simply removing a feature that has been around for years in Windows. This is very typical of the company, where they remove a useful feature for no reason , and offer no alternative. It is their operation, and it seems that they will continue to do so with Windows 11.

In addition, removing the menu that opened when you right-clicked on the taskbar is not useful either, since for example many of us open the task manager from there. Now, you have to right click on the Windows icon on the taskbar to go.

At the moment, in the current builds it is possible to restore the old taskbar by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionShellUpdatePackages , and create a DWORD (32 bits) called UndockingDisabled with the value 1 . However, this is to be expected to disappear in the final version. What is clear is that surely someone decides to create programs or tricks to recover many of the lost functions.
