In the past year 2020 marked by the global pandemic caused by Covid-19, the sale of smartphones fell notably but in the same way, many users have changed devices. Collecting all the data, the market research carried out by Omdia reveals the best-selling mobile models in 2020 on the entire planet earth.
The sum of all these data also allows us to know the figures that increase up to millions to know the number of units sold for each mobile . Sophisticated data that allows us to find out if we have chosen our new mobile like a few million other people. This also raises a serious question, such as the possibility of getting one of these phones today.
List of the best-selling mobiles during 2020
The Omdia list is also accompanied by a comparison with the year 2019. In it we can see that the iPhone continue to lead the ranking with the iPhone 11 as the best-selling and most popular mobile of the year , leaving huge figures with 64.8 million units. Then we come across the new iPhone SE (2020), a compact mobile that has been well received and in third place in the ranking is the last iPhone presented in 2020, such as the iPhone 12.

The list continues off the podium with Samsung terminals , such as the Galaxy A51, Galaxy A21s and the Galaxy A01; economic models that distance themselves from the price of the first three positions. Again Apple and the iPhone 12 Pro Max appear on the scene in seventh place and then the Galaxy A11 with its not inconsiderable 15.3 million units.
The only brand capable of appearing in this top without being Samsung or Apple is Xiaomi with the mid-range Redmi Note 9 Pro and 15 million units. Closing the list, an experiment that seems to have worked for Apple such as the iPhone 12 mini. We share with you the list and the number of units sold:
- iPhone 11 – 64.8 million units
- iPhone SE 2020 – 24.2 million units
- iPhone 12 – 23.3 million units
- Samsung Galaxy A51 – 23.2 million units
- Samsung Galaxy A21s – 19.4 million units
- Samsung Galaxy A01 – 16.9 million units
- iPhone 12 Pro Max – 16.8 million units
- Samsung Galaxy A11 – 15.3 million units.
- Redmi Note 9 Pro – 15 million units
- iPhone 12 mini – 14.8 million units
And the big question. Are these mobiles worth it today?
It is not easy to answer such an extensive list of terminals, but if we look at the age of mobile phones, the iPhone 11 is the one that has been on the market the longest and still has a long way to go , especially considering the updates of Manzana. This makes us evaluate all Apple phones that make it into the list of the best-selling phones of the year 2020.

On the part of the Samsung terminals, all of them already have or will soon have a successor with improvements in their characteristics. However, the price drop cannot make us consider the Galaxy A51 in a prominent way. The only Xiaomi terminal on the list is also still a great option, although we will soon meet the Redmi Note 10, a year later Xiaomi’s mid-range has a lot to offer us.
