What are the Star Wars spin-offs and in what order should they be seen?

Star Wars spin-offs

If Disney is good at something, it is expanding universes. Marvel is the best example of the capacity of the company that gave birth to Mickey Mouse, but Star Wars is going the same way since the company took over Lucasfilm at the end of 2012. In this last decade, the stories of the galaxy far far away have not stopped flourishing. However, you may have doubts. In what order should I start watching movies and series from the Star Wars universe?

What works are part of the Star Wars spin-offs ?

Star Wars is that saga that always generates some confusion when we go to see the movies. There are several ways to see this work: from the classic order of release of each one of them to the order of the events of the plot —without forgetting variants such as the machete order, which is the one recommended by true fans—. However, seeing stories from the Star Wars universe has become quite complicated with the arrival of new spin-offs . Throughout this post we will try to order this puzzle so that we can put a little logic to all these movies and series.

To date, these are the television series and movies that are considered Star Wars spin-offs within canon :

T.V. series:

  • The Mandalorian
  • The Bobba Fett Book
  • Star Wars Rebels
  • Star Wars: The Bad Batch
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Films:

  • Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure
  • Ewoks: The Fight for Endor
  • rogue one
  • Only

In what order should we see the spin-offs?

There really is no ideal order to watch all these stories. Each one has been produced at a certain time, so if you have more or less an idea of what happens before and what happens after, you can see any of these works without any problem.

However, here we have promised to bring some order to the Force. So let’s get to it.

Starting at the beginning, after The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones , the first spin-off you should check out is Star Wars: The Clone Wars . It is an animated series that shows many details of the Star Wars lore . In addition, it is very well directed and is the best you will find in this universe. This is followed by Star Wars: The Bad Batch , another animated series that premiered last year on Disney+.

After the two animated series, it’s time to make the leap to real action with the Solo movie. It was a flop at the box office, but we can’t say it was bad —yes, it was dark for a while. From the adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca we will return to animation with Star Wars Rebels . The next stop corresponds to the movie Rogue One . And to end this block, we would finish off with the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries .

The original trilogy of movies hardly has any interesting things to tell. Between Episode V and Episode VI we get to see Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and its sequel, Ewoks: The Fight for Endor . They are two telefilms of which, practically, nobody remembers anything.

Finally, it is time to talk about the timeline of the two television series that we have been able to see these years on Disney +. The Mandalorian takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens . The Bobba Fett book also shares the same timeline.
