Considering that the Nintendo Switch has a platform based on the NVIDIA Tegra processor, it was to be expected that sooner or later they would create an emulator that would work directly on a mobile phone without too many complications. Well, that’s just what happened.
Playing Switch games on Android
Considering the level of power that many phones on the market are reaching, it was to be expected that at some point certain consoles would be emulated with almost no effort. It happened with the Nintendo 3DS emulator for Android, and now it is exactly the same with the Nintendo Switch, which is appearing on the network in the form of video demonstrations.
The result is Egg NS , a Switch emulator that works for now only on Android devices with Snapdragon 855, Snapdragon 855+ and Snapdragon 865 processors . Created by the NXTeam Studios group, the emulator has been in the making since 2017, and it has not been until now that it has begun to offer its most encouraging results.
On its official website we can find a list of 111 games that have been tested, which are accompanied by a compatibility score. Most of them seem to work correctly, with many offering perfect performance, however, almost all of those games are titles without too many graphical flourishes, and games like Super Mario Odyssey are the ones that have performance problems.
The phone used for these tests was a Galaxy S20 +, although as we can see the following video above, there are already people using the emulator on other phones like the realme X50 Pro 5G. In the following demo we can see how Super Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Sword unexpectedly close due to serious performance problems, while others like Hollow Kight work almost perfectly.
An indispensable requirement
The funny thing is that, in addition to needing a phone with a Snapdragon processor, the software requires the use of a specific driver, and that is where the commercial pirouette arrives. Egg NS requires the use of the GameSir X2 game pad, a controller with a USB-C port that attaches to your phone and transforms it practically into a Switch Lite.
This controller is currently in the reserve period, and is priced at $ 99.99. We do not know if the creators of Egg NS have some kind of agreement with GameSir, or if otherwise they hope to expand the compatibility in the future with more devices, such as the Razer Kishi.
How to download the Switch emulator for Android
The Switch emulator for Android can be downloaded right now through a link in Google Drive, although it also requires the installation of another application called SwitchDroid Folder , also available on Google Drive. If for some reason the high demand for downloads blocks the availability of files, remember that you can download files from Google Drive that are not available very easily.
You have all the information with the installation process of the files and the emulator on the official Egg NS page, where they indicate what to do with each of the downloaded files.
