Duplicate contacts take up space, make searching more cumbersome, and can lead to error. However, it is practically impossible to avoid them, and more so when the user has been with the same mobile phone or SIM card for a long time. In addition, and it is one of the most common causes of having repeated contacts, is that some applications duplicate them , causing them to appear several times within Contacts. Luckily, Samsung has a powerful duplicate contact finder.

Join duplicate contacts

We may have stored two contacts with the same name, but they do not have the same phone number or email . In this case we will have nothing to fear since Samsung will only unify those that are actually duplicated, that is, they are repeated by phone number or email. The Samsung function will take care of eliminating all those repeated names that appear in the phonebook once and for all.

To be able to access the duplicate contacts unification, we will have to slide our finger up to go to the applications screen. Then we enter “Contacts” and touch on the three vertical lines to access the menu. Once inside we will have to select “Manage contacts” and select the first option: “Join contacts”.

Check your contacts

Now we will be inside the function, which will show us all the duplicate contacts that the system has detected. We can check well the contacts that have been chosen before clicking on join so as not to lose any. We can see the duplicate contacts that the system has found by Number, Email or Name. We can also mark on “All” and begin to unify the contacts.

The process may take more or less depending on the number of duplicate contacts, but in any case it should not take more than a few seconds. Then the system will return to the previous screen and the number of joined contacts will be indicated, so they will no longer be repeated when we search for them within Contacts. Luckily and if we keep the apps that have access to the contacts at bay, we will not have to repeat the task for many years.
