We all hope that, when we take a photo with the mobile, it is saved in the gallery of the phone without major problem. The stable, some Samsung users have seen how this is not so and do not know where their photos and videos are going.
This failure is usually due to a bad update like the one that, in its day, affected the Samsung Galaxy S9. After updating, many users saw how many photos they took with the smartphone, they were not saved. This was fixed by clearing the cache of a couple of applications and installing a patch published by the brand days later.
But what happens if the problem is not fixed?
First of all… are the photos from WhatsApp or from the camera?
When many of you come to this type of article, it turns out that the problem is related to WhatsApp. If what you want is to find the photos that you receive through the messaging app in the phone’s gallery, what you should do is configure the app correctly.
If the problem is with WhatsApp …
The problem is probably that the automatic download of files is not activated. We usually recommend keeping it uninhabited so as not to fill the phone with “garbage2” in the form of videos, memes and other ephemeral content, but if you don’t activate it, you won’t see any photos or videos on the roll of your Samsung mobile.
To see the photos of the app in the memory of your mobile, follow these steps.
- Open WhatsApp.
- Access the drop-down menu by clicking on the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner.
- Go into the settings.
- Locate the Data Storage and Usage menu.
- Locate the Automatic Download options.
- Allows files to be downloaded automatically to the mobile memory.
- Within the Chats settings, also enable the option to display multimedia files in the gallery.
If you are looking for photos that you have already received, use the file manager of your phone and, inside the WhatsApp folder, you must enter WhatsApp Images. Inside here you will find several folders with different photos and videos received from your contacts.
Why are the camera photos not saved in the gallery?
If the problem has nothing to do with WhatsApp, but with the camera app itself or the gallery , these are some of the possible reasons why the images are not saved on the reel. This may not be a complete list, but these are the most common reasons.
- Little storage space
- The cache is full
- Damaged SD card
- Problems with your phone
Restart your phone
As a first step, restart your phone to see if this helps to resolve the error. Although this solution seems basic, it is known that it helps in certain situations restarting the smartphone helps to eliminate possible malfunctions in the phone.
Check storage
Images may not be saved in the gallery if your phone’s SD card is full or, if your mobile doesn’t have cards, the phone’s internal memory. In that case, free up space in any of the storage systems used by your Samsung and capture new images to see if you can see them on the photo roll.
Remove and reinsert the SD card
These errors can also arise if the SD card is not properly mounted in the equipment that is compatible with this accessory. To remount an SD card, follow the steps below.
- Click Settings and select Storage
- Select the Unmount SD card option and in the warning dialog that appears, click OK
- Once the SD is disassembled, there are 2 ways to reassemble it, so you can choose the way you want. One way is to go to Settings> Storage> Mount. The second method is to physically remove the SD card and reinsert it.
Check if after doing so you can return to take and save photos and videos as normal.
Clear cache
Your phone’s gallery cache stores temporary files to help you quickly open images. If this cache exceeds a certain limit, you may encounter problems like the ones that are giving you this headache today. To resolve this error, delete the cache manually by following these steps:
- Enter the Settings app on your phone and select the Application Manager
- In the app manager, find All apps> Gallery
- Select “Clear cache.”
Repeat this process with the camera app to rule out possible problems that do not have to do only with the folder where we save the photos.
Recover data and format SD card
If none of the above solutions help you to view the images from the gallery , there is a possibility that the SD card is resulting in the photos not being saved.
This does not mean that they have been removed from your Samsung mobile, they are simply not visible in the user interface. In such cases, recovery apps like Disk Diggerr can be used to locate missing photos and recover images from corrupted SD card.
Once you have recovered the images, proceed to format your SD card and hopefully this will eliminate the issues.
Factory restoration
When an error, no matter how much we do, does not stop repeating itself, it is worth doing a hard reset to the phone to return it to its original state. To do this, make a backup before, as all data will be lost, and then enter the Backup and restore menu on your smartphone. Select Delete all data, accept the message on the screen and wait for the mobile to relapse.
Set it up from scratch and see if now you can save the photos taken with your Samsung’s camera on the roll.
And what about the edited photos?
If you have the problem with the edited photos, it is because you have not found the correct option to save them in the gallery. Many users complain that when an image is cropped or edited, the original is not saved, only the edited one.
In previous versions of the Samsung operating system, both were saved but now there is an intermediate step. If you want to save a copy, in addition to the original, once you have edited the photo you should click on the icon of the three buttons in the upper left corner and then select the save copy option.
