Yellow Light on Amazon Echo: What it Means and How to Remove it

More and more houses decide to include smart speakers like the entire Amazon Echo family. Equipment that helps us in our day to day in many functions until we panic. What does that yellow light mean? Alexa, do you want to tell me something? Today we explain why your Amazon Echo has a yellow light (and other colors), what it means and how you can remove it .

What is an Amazon Echo?

Some clueless may have come to this article without knowing too much what these devices are or, if they all have those same lights that indicate certain details of the device.

Yellow Light on Amazon Echo

Without going into too much detail or functionality, the Amazon Echo are the company’s smart speakers. Thanks to including the smart assistant Alexa , we can request different actions to provide us with certain information or to act directly with equipment such as smart lights, the Smart TV and many others.

Within the Amazon Echo family we can find several types of product:

  • Amazon Echo Dot
  • Amazon Echo
  • Amazon Echo Plus
  • Amazon Echo Show
  • Amazon Echo Spot
  • Amazon Echo Flex
  • Amazon Echo Auto: which allows us to bring the possibilities of a company smart speaker to our car.
  • Amazon Fire TV Cube: This one, while really conceived as a Fire TV, incorporates all the capabilities of an Amazon smart speaker.

If you want to know any of these devices in more depth, you can take a look at the videos that we dedicate to them on our YouTube channel. From what it is like to live with the ecosystem at home or the analysis of some of them:

As we said, this is the entire Echo family. Each of them has several models in its catalog and is intended for a different type of use or user. But what they all have in common, which is what concerns us in this article, is that they have the LED that lights up in different ways depending on what you want to inform us.

What does the yellow / green / red light on my Amazon Echo mean?

Having said all the above, let’s go with the really interesting thing about this article, what do those colored lights that we see in our Amazon smart speakers mean?

As you can imagine, these LED lights are messages that the speaker throws at us before any information that needs to be transmitted to us. So let’s go color by color to identify them correctly.

Yellow light on Amazon Echo

If we see that our speaker shows a yellow band that blinks slowly every few seconds, it means that Alexa has a pending message or notification to tell us. This signal will appear, for example, whenever a package that we have ordered on Amazon is going to arrive on that day.

So if you want to delete it, just say something like “Alexa, read my pending notifications” or “Alexa, what messages do I have?”

Red light on Amazon Echo

In the case of the red stripe, which can be somewhat more striking or inspire a problem, it is something totally different from this. If we see that the LED of our equipment is this color, it means that the microphone is muted and that, therefore, Alexa will not be able to hear us. In case you have a device with a camera, it also means that the video will not be transmitted either.

To solve this, it is as simple as pressing, again, the mute button on the speaker. This is located on the body of the device and is shaped like a circle with a line that crosses it across.

Cyan / Blue Light on Amazon Echo

Few presentations will need this light since, if we use the Echo in our day to day, we will be tired of seeing it. But what you may not know is that it has two “positions” that mean different things.

For example, the flash of light blue light followed by dark blue occurs when Alexa is listening to us. We will see this whenever we invoke it with the command that we have configured. At the end of the request and its subsequent response, it will disappear.

However, a broader band of cyan color that drifts steadily from a dark blue farm we will see when the team is starting up. If this is the first time we do it and you need configuration, after this animation the orange light will follow.

Orange light on Amazon Echo

Simple. The speaker is in setup mode and ready to be linked to your Amazon account. You just have to connect it to the internet and follow the steps that the Alexa app gives you so that this light disappears.

Green light on Amazon Echo

If a flashing green light suddenly appears on our speaker, in a few seconds we will find out what it is. This indicates that a call is coming to our device. However, if the call is in progress this green light will scroll instead of flashing.

The LED light will turn off when the call ends.

Purple light on Amazon Echo

In case you did not know, these Amazon smart devices have a do not disturb mode, which can be accessed by simply saying the command “Alexa, activate do not disturb mode”. In other words, the moment you perform this command, no other notification will be able to reach your computer to avoid sounds or distractions.

When activated, we can see a purple light that blinks slowly on the computer. And, if we want to remove this mode, it will be as simple as asking the assistant.

White light on Amazon Echo

Finally, we can also get a white LED on the Echo. Although it quickly reveals its use. As we raise or lower the volume of the speaker, this LED will be shown occupying a greater or lesser part of the band in the equipment.

These are all the codes of LED lights that we can see in our Amazon speaker and, in addition, how we can “remove” them. We hope we have helped you discover what Alexa wanted to convey to you and that you don’t get your head around thinking what it might mean.
