Reduce the List of WiFi Networks Stored on the Mac in This Simple Way

If you are a person who likes to work in airports, coffee shops or any other place with a secure public WiFi network that you have an endless list of WiFi networks stored on the Mac. This list can be shortened by deleting these networks stored in the operating system memory in a really simple way as we are going to tell you in this article.

macOS by default remember all connections where you connect to avoid having to re-enter credentials when you reconnect. This can be really comfortable especially when you get home or to the office and connect only to the WiFi

It’s that easy to forget WiFi networks on the Mac

Reducing the list of WiFi networks is really simple, since you simply have to follow the following steps:

  1. Enter System Preferences> Network.
  2. In the window that opens we will have access to all possible connections. To access the detail of all stored networks, click on ‘Advanced’.

  3. Here we can see a long list with all the WiFi networks that we have stored. To remove it you simply have to click on it and press the icon of the minus ‘-‘ that we find at the bottom so that the network is forgotten.

In this way, the next time we are in the location of that network the equipment will not connect and we must enter the password again. In this same ‘Advanced’ window we can also easily select which networks we want the computer to connect to automatically. If we uncheck this option we will have to access the network ourselves manually but if it is checked the computer will do it alone.

In addition we can also change the order of connection, so you have a preference for a particular network . For example, if in our house we have a WiFi with 5G and 2.4G network, we can choose to first connect to the 5G network that is normally the fastest.

And if we don’t want to be reminded of any network, we can uncheck the option that says ‘Remember the networks to which this computer has been connected’. This way the computer will not store the networks where you have connected and will not connect automatically when it detects them. This obviously can take away that convenience of automatically connecting to our home network but it is convenient to prevent hundreds of networks from being stored.

Leave us in the comment box what you think about the networks to which you have connected to the Mac are stored.
