The mid-range is closer than ever, of that there is no doubt. Never before have the cheapest mobiles offered us so many good features. And today we have two great examples of this face to face. We are talking about the Motorola Moto G8 Plus and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro , two phones that offer a lot for quite a bit in exchange.
Without a doubt, two mobiles with an excellent relation of benefits and price, of which we are going to try to learn more about the differences that exist between them, in order to better assess which can be the best purchase, on the basis that both terminals cost practically what same.
Screen and dimensions
Here we have the first differences, especially in terms of size, since the Motorola has a 6.3-inch with Full HD + resolution and notch in the form of a drop of water. While the Xiaomi has a somewhat larger screen, 6.53 inches, also Full HD + with notch in the form of a drop of water.
Regarding the dimensions, the G8 Plus is more compact and light , since it measures 158.4 x 75.8 x 9.1 mm and weighs 188 grams. For its part, the Xiaomi has a size of 161.4 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm and weighs 200 grams, so there is some difference in this regard.
performance
Here there are also differences regarding the power that both can develop. In the case of the Motorola we have a Snapdragon 665 processor , a classic of the mid-range, but that perhaps is already a bit outdated, while the Xiaomi has a MediaTek Helio G90T that in tests like AnTuTu far exceeds the performance of the 665. made it is a processor designed for gaming.
The units we have looked at have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for Motorola, and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for Redmi. In both cases with a card slot to expand capacity.
Photo camera
Here the Redmi Note 8 Pro has in its favor that it has more cameras, in total four rear , commanded by a 64-megapixel sensor. This is accompanied by 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, 2-megapixel macro or 2-megapixel depth sensors.
While the Moto G8 Plus has three rear sensors , a lower-resolution 48-megapixel main sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Therefore in this case it does not have the macro lens that the Redmi does. In front, the Motorola wins the game with a 25 megapixel sensor, while the Redmi has a 20 megapixel sensor.
Battery, software and connectivity
Here too the Redmi wins, with a 4500mAh battery , which supports 18W fast charging. For its part, the Moto has a 4000mAh , with a slightly less rapid charge of 15W.
Both have NFC connectivity to make mobile payments, as well as a USB Type-C connector, and a fingerprint reader on the back. In addition the Redmi has an infrared port. Both already have Android 10 as the operating system.
Prices and conclusion
The two terminals cost practically the same, about 225 euros depending on specific promotions. And the truth is that if we put one next to the other, speaking of characteristics, the Redmi gives us more for the same price . It has a bigger screen, a more powerful processor, twice the internal storage, more RAM, a camera behind, more battery and it charges faster.
The Moto G8 Plus is a mobile that in its favor has a more compact size , is lighter, has a better selfie camera , although in some features it lags behind and a practically non-existent software layer closer to Android Stock. Based on the fact that both are excellent terminals, we lean towards the Redmi for its best performance and price ratio.
