A “mini” iPhone in 2020 and other leaks from Apple’s supply chain

There was a time not too distant in which the presentation of an electronic device by Apple and other companies was a mystery. The first iPhone was presented in 2007 in a halo of mystery in which nobody was clear that it was being presented.

There were rumors, there always were, but never as many previous certainties as we have seen in recent times. Although not all information is now 100% reliable, it is taken into account when drawing an idea of what the device will eventually be officially. Now we are starting with the information related to the iPhone 12, which will be launched in 2020 and for which there are still many months.

The bet will remain three iPhone

The year 2017, beyond all the news that we saw on the iPhone, served as a start to an idea of Apple releases that has been repeated in the following two years and is expected to continue next year as well.

We refer to the fact of presenting three terminals at the same time and launching them almost at par with the market. In that year were the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X. In 2018 we met the iPhone XS, XS Max and the ‘economic’ XR. This year we have also seen a new trio with the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.iphone-12

By 2020, as many analysts already speculate, it is expected that there will be three iPhone models again, but with subtle differences from what has been seen so far. Screen sizes would vary. To see it more clearly we will name the new devices: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max . It is obviously not something that is confirmed, but it will help us get in a position and compare them with this year’s models.

The iPhone 12 would continue with the 6.1-inch screen seen on the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. However we could get to see a long-awaited change: the OLED screen . We remind you that this lower cost version currently incorporates an LCD panel. We do not know if this will increase the cost in any way, but it is expected to remain the cheapest model of the three that are launched.

On the other hand we would find the iPhone 12 Pro, whose panel would be 5.4 inches . Here comes the first novelty and is that both the iPhone X and the XS and the 11 Pro incorporate 5.8 panels. This would mean a small, but considerable reduction in the size of the device. Probably the objective of Apple would be to create a more compact model for those diehard fans of devices and somewhat old as the iPhone SE.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max would grow to 6.7 inches becoming the largest iPhone in history. We remember the 6.4 inches of the iPhone XS Max and 11 Pro Max, which already give an important robustness to the phone, making it even difficult to use on certain occasions. The panel, like that of the ’12 Pro ‘, would be an improved OLED screen that would allow the materials to be thinner, easier to assemble and even with a lower manufacturing cost.

This information has been recently revealed by ETNews, a Korean medium close to Apple’s display supply chains, not surprisingly Samsung and LG are native companies of this country and those who are responsible for supplying these materials for the iPhone. In any case we will continue to wait for information that confirms or denies these and that, of course, can add some more relevant data.
