Leica finally has its first mobile device, a phone that will delight the most fans of the popular photography brand. Or not so much, because there are some other details that you still need to know. And most importantly, where you can buy this proposal in case it interests you.
This is the first Leica smartphone
For some time there had been rumors about the possibility that Leica stopped collaborating with brands like Huawei with the intention of launching its own terminal or starting to do so with other manufacturers interested in all its photographic knowledge.
Well, we can already say that practically everything has happened. Leica has launched what is its first smartphone, although it has done so in collaboration with Sharp. And is that making a phone directly from scratch is not easy.

So the Leitz Phone 1 is a variation of the Sharp Aquos R6, but powered by a 1-inch main sensor and 20 MP resolution that will delight photography lovers, or so one expects when seeing the Leica stamp on a corner.
Logically, being a Leica phone, it should offer practically the best of the best, that is why its technical sheet is what it is, that of a high-end terminal that can be configured with an internal storage capacity of 1TB so that No space problem when you go out to take photos and photos and more photos.
For the rest, well everything you can expect from a high-end phone:
- Snapdragon 888
- 12 GB RAM memory
- 256GB of basic storage and expandable up to 1TB
- 5,000 mAh internal battery
- IP68 protection
- 6.6 ″ OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh
- Resolution 2730 x 1260 pixels
- Main camera with 1-inch sensor and 20 MP resolution
A phone that you can hardly buy
As you can imagine, the first official Leica phone, despite being a manufacturer with Sharp, will not be cheap at all. It is true that it will be more available to any user who wants a Leica, because it will not cost like their popular cameras, but even so the 1,400 euros of the base price is not something for everyone.
Of course, the main limitation to get one of these terminals is that it will only be available for the moment and until further notice in the Japanese market. It will be marketed through the Softbank operator and in part it is logical that this should be the case.
First of all because Sharp has a lot of pull there, in the land of the rising sun. But in other markets it is not such a strong brand. And the second is that the Japanese themselves can value a proposal of this type much more, although even so, nothing guarantees success.
However, knowing all this, what is clear is that the most interesting of all is to see what results that camera will give and if it will justify the company’s seal. Because we have already seen very powerful phones in the photographic section, with the recent Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra in the lead or other classic proposals such as those of Samsung or Apple.
In this video you can see more details, including the design section with details such as the curvature of the screen, the thickness of the terminal, etc. By the way, the lid with the Leica brand to cover the circular camera module is very curious.
