Improvements to Google Chrome for Mac Coming Soon

Google Chrome is possibly the most popular browser in the world, although the native Safari is still very present on Mac. Beyond the characteristics of each one, the truth is that one of the reasons why the Apple browser is more successful in macOS is due to the low consumption it generates, either in terms of RAM or battery in the case of the MacBook. However, the Google tool will soon incorporate improvements that will make the competition between each other more rigid.

The big problem with Google Chrome

As we were saying, Google Chrome and especially on Macs, tends to be a browser that is widely criticized for its excessive consumption. Even tests were carried out on a powerful Mac Pro and it was shown that even such a machine could crash with this browser, although it is also true that the test was very demanding with thousands of windows open. In any case, whether with greater or lesser demand, Chrome consumes many more resources than its competitor and that is why the Mountain View company has set its sights on improving it.

Improvements to Google Chrome for Mac

Recent reports from Google and specialized media such as The Windows Club, recently confirmed that the company is incorporating internal improvements in the application with the firm objective of consuming less battery in a MacBook , something that would also occur in Windows laptops. The change is due to a limitation when activating the Javascript timer in some web pages that are open in the background.

Considering that testing started on July 5, these improvements are expected to come soon, although there is no date set for it yet. We do not know what the calendar deadlines set by Google will be, but it does not look like it will be delayed too long. If Chrome’s good performance is confirmed in subsequent tests, we would be facing a very remarkable fact in the history of the browser that, while still being internal, will greatly improve the user experience.

Rivalry with Safari

Despite the fact that with macOS Big Sur you can change the default browser, the truth is that Safari will continue to be the main browser for a majority of users. The main reason is that, despite all the improvements in Chrome, it is still faster than its rival. It has also been made more secure by offering privacy reports on each website visited in order to avoid unauthorized tracking. The lower consumption of resources will also be present in the new software version of the Mac, to which we must also add some functional innovations such as the option of having an integrated translator.

They say that for tastes the colors and in this comparison it is also applicable, since in the end there will be those who prefer one or the other for various reasons that respond to their tastes and needs. However, it must be recognized that Apple is not making it easy for Google and despite the fact that Chrome continues to be the most widespread in Windows, it will now cost a little more to also enter macOS taking into account everything new in Safari. In any case, we will continue to watch for new information regarding the improvements of both with the aim of seeing if they are equated and if at some point it may become even more advisable to use the third-party browser.
