Among the tools that our mobile phone has, the main manufacturers have agreed to integrate a tool to control and raise awareness of the use of the smartphone. On Huawei phones with EMUI from version 9, it is called Digital Balance. However, this function requires a password that can be forgotten , so we are going to see the existing options to recover it.
We have already spoken to you on other occasions about Huawei’s Digital Balance. This tool was created to measure how much time we spend with the phone and shows the duration of use of each application individually. In this way we can establish usage limits for the applications, as well as a daily limit of screen time. In addition, in the event that we place the mobile in the hands of a child or adolescent, Balance Digital also includes parental controls to monitor the use of the phone by children.
However, when configuring this option, we will be asked for a PIN that we will have to use to access the management of the tool, so that unauthorized persons can access and change the parameters that we have established. In addition and for more security, we will have to establish a security question as support in case of forgetting the PIN.
If we have forgotten the PIN
If we have forgotten the PIN for the Digital Balance, we can reset it after answering the security question. To do this, we enter Settings / Digital Balance / Change password / I have forgotten my password / Verify security question / Reset PIN. In this way and after answering the security question, we will be able to re-enter a new access PIN to the tool.
The biggest problem comes when the user also forgets the answer to the Digital Balance security question. In this case, it can only be disabled only by restoring the factory settings of the phone for privacy and security reasons. This is the only method to be able to access the tool again.
To restore the factory settings of the phone we will have to turn off the phone and press and hold the on / off button and the button to increase the volume at the same time. When the startup animation appears, we will have to release the on / off button. Now we wait 3 seconds and release the button to increase the volume. Once inside the recovery mode we must select “Restore factory settings”
To consider
Note that a factory reset will erase all data on the phone. Therefore, we will have to make a backup of the most important data before restoring the factory settings of the phone.
Likewise, if we have the “Find my phone” function activated, once the factory settings have been restored, it will be necessary to verify the associated Huawei ID. Otherwise it will not be possible to access the main screen of the phone.
Finally, if we have enabled Parental Control in Digital Balance, it will be necessary to log in with the father’s Huawei ID to use the phone normally again.
