That is why today we are going to check how we can add our favorite websites to the Start menu to be able to access them quickly. This is something that we can do with the main browsers on the market such as Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Opera . The process will be simpler or somewhat more confusing depending on each browser, although we will see how we can achieve it with a few simple steps.

Microsoft Edge, with its own new anchor function

Microsoft has incorporated into its new version of Edge a feature imported from Edge Legacy such as the possibility of using the option Anchor at startup . This function is already available in the Edge Canary version , which will allow us to anchor any website to the Start menu in Windows, in addition to the taskbar. By using this function, we can quickly start the websites that we have added from the Start menu and the taskbar, opening instantly in our Edge Legacy browser.

In order to perform this function we must have Microsoft Edge Legacy installed , otherwise we can download it from here . Once we have it installed, we must open it and navigate to the website which we want to anchor in the Windows Start menu. Later, we must click on the ellipsis icon that we will find in the upper right part. Next, click on “More tools” and select “Anchor to Start”.

Now a window will appear where we must give a name to the web that we are going to anchor and then click on the “Set” button. Again a window will appear asking us “Do you want to anchor this icon to Start?” We answer yes and the page will be anchored in the Start menu and will appear together with other programs.

Now if we access the Start menu we will see the icon for direct access to the web. If we right-click on the page we can change the size between small and medium, deactivate the dynamic icon or unpin it.

Once Chrome is installed, we must run it and navigate to the page that we want to anchor at home. Later we click on the three buttons in the upper right. Next, we go to “More tools” and select “Create a shortcut”. Now a window will appear where we must write down the name we want to give the page and it will ask us Do you want to create a shortcut? Click on “Create”.

Next, we will see how we have created a direct access to the web on our desktop. Now we must click on it with the right mouse button so that a context menu appears, where we must select “Anchor to Start”.

Mozilla Firefox, a somewhat more complicated process

Firefox is a free and open source web browser coordinated by the Mozilla Corporation and the Mozilla Foundation. This popular browser also allows us to anchor any web page in the Windows 10 Start menu by using a shortcut. While this process is different from those seen above.

First of all, it is necessary to have Firefox installed on our computer. Otherwise we can download it from your website . Once installed, we write Firefox in the Start menu , and we will right-click on its icon and select the option “Open file location”.

Firefox Abrir ubicación de archivo

A window will open with the File Explorer. Now we right-click on Firefox and its context menu will appear, where we will click on “Create shortcut”. A message will appear saying Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop? Click on Yes.

Firefox Crear acceso directo

Next, we right-click on the Firefox icon on our desktop and select “Properties”. In the “Destination” field within the “Direct Access” tab, we must copy the complete URL of the website that we want to anchor just after the quotation marks. For example: “C: / Program / FilesMozilla / Firefoxfirefox.exe” https : //www.marca.com/

Once entered, click on “Apply” and “OK”. Now the Firefox icon on the desktop when clicking on it will take us to the web that we have entered. Finally, we click again with the right button on the Firefox icon and this time we choose the option “Anchor from start”. Once this is done, if we access the Windows 10 Start menu we can see the Firefox logo with the direct access to the web that we have put. Likewise, if we click on it with the right button, we can change the size or unpin it from the menu.

Opera is a web browser created by the Norwegian company Opera Software and which is also one of the most popular. For this, it is essential that we have the browser installed, otherwise we must download it from the developer’s website , and then install it.

To begin, we must click on the shortcut that Opera creates for us on our desktop. Right click on the Opera icon on our desktop and select “Properties”. In the Destination field within the Direct Access tab, we must copy the full URL of the website that we want to anchor just after the quotation marks. For example: C: / Users / FranApp / DataLocal / Programs / Operalauncher.exe https://www.marca.com/

Once entered, click on “Apply” and “OK”. In this way, each time we press the icon, it will directly open the page that we have entered. Now it is not necessary to anchor it in the Windows Start menu. To do this, right-click and select “Anchor start”. Once this is done, if we access the Windows 10 Start menu we can see the Opera logo with the direct access to the web that we have put. As in other browsers, if we click on it with the right button, we can change the size or unpin it from the menu, among other functions.
