You can use a static iOS 17-style image as wallpaper on an iPhone or Android phone that lets you choose a photo background. You do not need to install iOS 17 to use a picture. A downloaded JPG, however, does not bring Apple‘s animations, widgets or Lock Screen features to another phone.
A static wallpaper preview you can save
This colour-gradient image is a small 438 × 654 pixel preview. You can save it to try the look, but it may appear soft on a high-resolution screen. It is not a 4K wallpaper or an animated file.
Open the static wallpaper preview, then use your browser’s Save Image or Download Image option. A phone browser may show that option when you press and hold the picture. Check that you saved the image itself, not a screenshot of this whole page.
Can you get the original built-in iOS 17 wallpaper?
If your iPhone already includes the design, choose it in the wallpaper picker. On a phone that has moved to a later iOS release, an older collection may not be offered in the same place. The available presets depend on the system version.
Do not assume that every image called “iOS 17 wallpaper” is an official Apple download. Fan-made gradients, Apple-logo pictures and landscapes can all use that label. A static copy is also different from a built-in wallpaper effect.
Set the picture as wallpaper on iPhone
- Save the image in Photos.
- Open Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper.
- Choose Photos and select the saved picture.
- Adjust its position and crop so the important parts remain visible.
- Tap Add, then choose a wallpaper pair or customize the Home Screen separately.
Follow Apple’s current wallpaper guide if the controls differ. Features such as depth or spatial effects require suitable hardware, software and images; saving a JPG does not guarantee them.
Set the picture on Android
Open the saved image in your phone’s Gallery or Photos app and look for Set as wallpaper or Use as. You can also open the phone’s Wallpaper settings and choose a local photo. Select the Home Screen, Lock Screen or both, then adjust the crop. The names vary between Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi and other phones.
Why is the wallpaper blurry, cropped or not animated?
- Blurry: the source may be a small preview. Choose a larger original image when you can verify its source.
- Cropped: the image and phone screen have different proportions. Reposition it before applying it.
- Static: a normal JPG stays still. It does not contain an iOS wallpaper animation.
- Different colours: screen settings, brightness and the wallpaper’s light or dark variant can change its appearance.
