Garmin Venu Sq: Price and Features

In the smartwatch market it is led by an undisputed leader, so it is normal that many manufacturers feel some inspiration when designing their models. This is the case of Garmin, which has just presented the Venu Sq , a mix between Apple Watch and fitbit sense that draws attention for its functions and price.

Garmin Venu Sq

Garmin Venu Sq

It is the first smart model from the manufacturer to offer a square case design (leaving aside the Garmin Forerunner 35 or the Approach S10), so it is inevitable to think about the influence of the Apple Watch. Although if we look better, its resemblance is rather with the fitbit sense, since it has proportions very close to that of the fitbi watch.

Garmin’s idea with the Venu Sq is to offer a functional smartwatch without great complications but very complete. This means that we will enjoy a smart watch with the classic functions of heart rate control, music control, physical activity monitoring and mobile payments. There will also be a fashionable sensor, a pulse oximeter that will help us to have an estimate of oxygen in the blood, a system for monitoring the menstrual cycle, stress control, monitoring of respiration and even monitoring of hydration.

The watch has a Gorilla Glass 3 glass protection, and has a case made of anodized aluminum measuring 40.6 x 37 x 11.5 millimeters. The screen is 1.3 inches with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels, and its internal battery is capable of reaching 6 days of use in smart watch mode, going down to 6 hours if we do a continuous GPS session with music playback .

A very attractive price

With a label of 199.99 euros , this Garmin Venu Sq is presented as a very interesting option for those who are looking for a complete smartwatch without too many complications. It does not reach the price of the Amazfit T-Rex, but its aesthetics and finish justify the price. With the help of the Garmin Connect application we can track many of our routines, and we can even create training sessions by downloading those that we find interesting to the watch.

The detail will be in the so-called Music Edition version, which will include internal memory to store up to a total of 500 songs. The manufacturer has not specified how much memory it is, but assuming that the songs have a bitrate of 128 kbs (about 3 or 4 MB per song), we would be talking about an internal capacity of 2 GB.

Mobile payment, but with details

Garmin Sq

The function of paying with the watch will be done through the Garmin Pay service, however, this payment method is not compatible with all banks in Spain. To clear up any doubts, Garmin has posted on its website a list of banks that allow its cards to be linked with the service, and they are the following: CaixaBank (VISA), Curve (Mastercard), OpenBank (VISA and Mastercard), Revolut (VISA and Mastercard) Santander (VISA and Mastercard) and TransferWire (Mastercard).
