For many years Tile has been the reference in this for labels that serve or help locate lost objects. An accessory that, although it has some limitations, the truth is that it has helped many users to have more controlled certain objects that normally “disappeared” from sight.

However, it was not until it became known that Apple was preparing its own proposal that many users began to speak more assiduously of this type of location accessories. Although not only numerous conversations about future AirTags were released, also the initiatives of other manufacturers such as Samsung not many weeks ago or those that will come in the coming months.

However, focusing on Samsung, the company has just announced an update to its SmartTags that it has called Galaxy SmartTag + and whose main novelty and attraction is none other than the use or integration with the advantages that augmented reality provides.

Yes, thanks to this and the use of UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology, the new Samsung smart tags will not only allow users to locate their lost items, but also have a visual aid and greater precision as long as the phone they use supports this type of technology.

As indicated by the brand, the new Galaxy SmartTag + allow the Galaxy S21 + and S21 Ultra to make use of the camera and the UBW chip they have to display a visual signal on the screen that indicates where exactly the label is located and, therefore, the object they put it on and it was lost.

In addition, the new label seems that it will also replicate an idea that Apple itself already spoke about in a previous WWDC: the possibility that any Galaxy device reports the location of a label to the company’s SmartThing server. Thus, even if that object is far from the user, the user will be able to see its location thanks to that information that will cross with other devices.

Of course, always encrypting and protecting the data so that it is something transparent to the rest of the users that what it will do is create a much more extensive location network from which everyone would benefit.
