CyberDog, Xiaomi’s First Robot Dog

CyberDog, Xiaomi's First Robot Dog

Xiaomi does not get tired of bringing out new products. After the Xiaomi scooter or the Xiaomi routers, on this occasion, the company has presented its first robot dog. It has four legs, an Nvidia-powered “brain,” and a suite of sensors that run throughout the robot’s infrastructure. It seems that Xiaomi is giving copies of this friendly robot to different workers and even some followers of the brand, although at the moment the availability is unknown since they have announced it today.

Already settled in the world of telephony, now the company has made the leap into the world of robotics. This robot dog is reminiscent of other prototypes that other companies specializing in the development of robots have already made. This robot can be the first step for the company and use it as an experiment for the development of future robots.

A last generation robot

The mechanism that will make this robot dog work is its “brain” powered by an Nvidia Jetson Xavier NX module , which takes information from many of the sensors that the robot dog has throughout its body. These sensors are responsible for making the robot move.

In fact, thanks to its systems, it can even make sharp turns or fast movements at a speed of just over 10 kilometers per hour.

Throughout its structure, several cameras will also be distributed along with a depth sensor provided by the Intel company in order to make the robot even more intelligent and get it to avoid possible obstacles or to follow different things.

Voice recognition, fast and agile …

It can carry up to 3 kilos of weight and has a 128 GB SSD . It can travel a distance of 3.2 meters per second, which makes it a fairly fast and agile robot.

It also has a voice recognition system that makes it answer you in case you call it. By saying a single word you can activate it , although there are also other voice commands that help the robot pay attention to you. It has six microphones in its structure.

Its three USB Type-C ports and an HDMI output allow engineers to install different new hardware and software functionalities in the future.

Although the idea of a robot dog may seem unattractive at first, this machine could be a great fun option for all those people who love technology, dogs or even the Xiaomi brand itself.

At the moment it is only known that some units are being distributed to a closed circle of people. The first 1000 units will have an approximate value of more or less about $ 1,540, which is equivalent to about 1,314 euros.
