As we said, there are two types of events on the social network: public or private. The first one can be seen by anyone and can be searched for, even if it is not on your friends list, while the second one is not.

How to create a public event

  1. Enter from your PC on Facebook and in the News section, click on Events in the menu on the left.
  2. Once inside, click on the blue button ” + Create event “, in the left column.
  3. Click Public Event and then “Next”.
  4. Write the name, location, date, time, and description of the event.
  5. Type and select the keywords associated with your public event. These will serve to better recommend people who are interested in the topic of your event.
  6. Choose who can edit the event and post to it, and once you’ve decided, click “Create.”
  7. Once done, you will be directed to the event, where you can send invitations, add a cover photo or video, share posts, and edit event details.

How to create a private event

  1. Access Facebook from your PC and in the news section, click on Events in the menu on the left.
  2. Click “+ Create event” on the left.
  3. Click on “Create Private Event” and then “Next”. Only guests will see the event. Once you have created a private event, you will not be able to set it as public later.
  4. Write the name, location, date, time, and description of the event.
  5. Click Create. You’ll be directed to the event, where you can send invitations, add a cover photo or video, share posts, and edit your event details.

How to edit an event

In case, once created, you want to edit an event, this is what you should do:

  1. In the news section, click Events in the menu on the left.
  2. Select the event you want to edit.
  3. Click “Edit” on the right.
  4. You can change the name, location, hours, description, and even the other event organizers.
  5. Once everything you want has changed, click “Update”.

Creators of a public event may change the date and time after the event is created, although Facebook cautions that they may not be able to do so if the event is only a few days away.

Invite people to an already created event

In case you have created an event on Facebook and later want to add more people to invite them, you can do it without problems. Depending on whether it is a public or private event, the steps are slightly different:

  1. Enter Facebook and go to the event that interests you.
  2. Click “Share” at the top right or below the cover photo.
  3. Click on “Invite friends” and search for the people you want to invite (or filter by groups, location …).
  4. Click on your friends’ names to invite them one at a time, or select all if you’re in a group.
  5. Click “Send invitations”.

Inviting people to a private event

  1. Go to the event you want.
  2. Click “Invite” below the cover photo. You can search for people by name, email address, or phone number.
  3. Click on the names of your friends to invite them one by one or filter by groups, location or even past events.
  4. Click “Send invitations”.
