Comparison of Redmi Note 10 5G vs Vivo Y72 5G

Smartphone users in Spain are currently experiencing a very sweet moment, simply because the offer that there is to choose from is increasing, with new manufacturers in our country. Very interesting options that we compare today, with the Redmi Note 10 5G and the Vivo Y72 5G , two interesting mid-range.

These two phones are good examples that 5G mobiles are becoming more and more common in the market, and that they are more accessible than ever. Although in this case, as you will be able to verify, some are more accessible than others, something obvious on the other hand.

Screen and dimensions

We are facing two mid-range mobiles with all the consequences, therefore we are not going to find the best or the worst features in their technical sheet. This year manufacturers are carrying out a curious strategy with 5G mobiles, since in many cases we are finding phones that offer lower characteristics than the standard models in their range, but that stand out above all for 5G connectivity. This is the case, for example, of the Redmi Note 10 5G , a phone that is generally inferior to the standard model, although it basically surpasses it in 5G connectivity, but we see for example how its screens are not better.

In fact, the Redmi Note 10 5G does not have an AMOLED like its companions, but a 6.5-inch LCD with Full HD + resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. This has a perforated camera in the center, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, has an aspect ratio of 20: 9 and it occupies 83.7% of the front of the phone. In the case of the Vivo Y72 5G we find a screen that is also LCD, and is somewhat larger, with 6.58 inches, with Full HD + resolution, and a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. This occupies 84.5% of the front of the phone, having an aspect ratio of 20: 9.

In terms of dimensions and weight, we find two phones that are similar in this regard. The Xiaomi is somewhat more compact, measuring 161.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm, while the Vivo measures 164 x 75.3 x 8.5 mm. The weight is very similar, because while the Redmi weighs 190 grams , the Y72 surpasses it by only 3 grams . In short, two mobiles that in hand are quite similar, and provide similar sensations.

Performance, connectivity and battery

These phones obviously stand out for an aspect that is closely linked to their processor, such as 5G connectivity, both differ from the rest of their ranges in having the possibility of connecting to these networks. For this, both phones have the same processor, a MediaTek Dimensity 700 , which is what provides this connectivity with your modem. Therefore, in this aspect, the two perform the same, with a 7nm manufacturing technology and test results that show that they are two very solvent mid-range. There are differences in the RAM, since the Vivo offers 8GB , while the Redmi stays at 4GB, half. Storage is the same in both cases, with 128GB expandable via microSD cards.

The battery is one of the key aspects of every mobile, and in this case we also find two identical ones. Because in both cases they have a capacity of 5000mAh , as well as a fast charge of 18W , which is not really one of the fastest on the market today, but they do offer a reasonable charging speed. Both equip Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 and GPS. Both have NFC to be able to make payments in establishments with the telephone, something that today seems essential to us.

We also have a USB Type-C connector, as well as a fingerprint reader on the side, on the power button, in both cases. They also both have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and in the case of the Redmi we have Hi-Res Audio support. The software they both have is Android 11 , in the case of the Redmi under MIUI 12.5 , and in the case of the Vivo with its Funtouch 11.1 layer. Therefore, they are two phones that coincide in many aspects, not only in the processor, but also in the battery.

Camera

One of the essential sections to be able to be clearer whether to opt for one mobile or another. And in this section we can say that the Vivo is better, at least on paper. Especially since it has better sensors most of the time. The Y72 5G, for example, has a 64-megapixel main sensor with f / 1.8 aperture, while it is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle, with f / 2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro with f / 2.4 aperture. .

This camera can record video in 4K resolution at 30fps, something in which it stands out from its opponent. In the case of the Redmi we have a lower resolution main sensor, 48 megapixels , with an aperture of f / 1.8. Accompanied by a macro of 2 megapixels and aperture of f / 2.4, as well as one of depth of 2 megapixels and aperture of f / 2.4. Therefore, the Vivo not only stands out in the higher resolution of its sensors, but also in having a wide angle that the Redmi does not have, it also records video only at 1080p.

On the front we also find better specifications in the Vivo, which has a 16 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture, while the Redmi offers half the resolution, 8 megapixels with f / 2.0 aperture, in both cases they record video. with 1080p quality. Therefore in this section the Vivo has a better camera in general.

Price and conclusion

We are facing two mobiles that are different in several aspects, also in price. In fact, although they both look at the same area of the mid-range, they have very different prices. We can currently buy the Redmi Note 10 5G for about 199 euros , while the Vivo Y72 5G can be found for 100 euros more, for 299 euros . A much higher price. But is it worth what it costs? Well it depends, because we believe that the price difference does not justify the improvements. It is true that the Vivo Y72 5G offers double the RAM, and a camera with better sensors, which also records in 4K, but in other aspects it does not stand out, it is even behind, as on the screen.

And that the Redmi offers about 90Hz that its rival does not offer. It is true that it may be the only aspect by which it clearly surpasses the Vivo, while except for the camera, in the rest it offers us the same performance, autonomy and connectivity. Therefore it is evident that if you give importance to the camera, you can gladly pay those 100 euros more. But if this is not your case and you are looking for a multipurpose mobile with 5G, for the 100 euros less that the Redmi costs you have a phone more than enough for your day to day.
