Braid Anniversary Edition: Release Date, Platforms and News

After 12 years, Braid returns with Braid Anniversary , a special edition in which it will highlight its renewed visual appearance. The only bad news is that it won’t be ready until early 2021. But you shouldn’t overlook it for that. We show you what will change and if you did not play it in its day, also on which platforms you can already enjoy it until this new version of a highly recommended game arrives.

Braid Anniversary

Braid Anniversary Edition In August 2008 Braid was launched , a title to which not all players paid the same attention, although they did receive criticism. Thanks to these very positive reviews, the game quickly gained popularity. So much so that the year after its original release on Xbox it already had versions for PC, Mac and Playstation.

The title created by Jonathan Blow , an independent developer, achieved such success thanks to some quite striking mechanics and where time management was the key. But not because you had to run as in other proposals, but because you could reverse it in order to overcome the different levels that shaped its six worlds.

That was, along with a quite striking graphic section, Braid’s great success. Because in essence it was a platform game with a mix of puzzles that had to be solved in order to advance through the screen. And really, some levels were not easy at all until you saw clearly what was the strategy to follow.

Now, this future special anniversary version that will arrive will allow us to enjoy a graphical improvement that is quickly appreciated. Something that in part is totally understandable since the power of current devices, the resolution of the screens and other technical aspects allow us to have this improvement.

A game where managing time is key

Given those graphical improvements that will come to Braid, you may be interested in knowing a little more in detail what the game offers and where you could play it if you do not want to wait for the anniversary version. So let’s go in parts.

Braid is a single player puzzle platformer that is available on Xbox, PC, Mac, Playstation, and Linux. The protagonist is Tim, a man who is looking for a princess, but the reason or what relationship unites them is not very clear. Even so, we are going to help you overcome each of the levels that make up its six worlds. In them you will have to solve different puzzles while you go from one platform to another.

The worlds are the following and each one of them implies a different mechanic when managing time:

  • Time and forgiveness
  • Time and Mystery
  • Time and place
  • Time and Decision
  • Doubt
  • 1. Yes, that’s the title of the last world

In each and every one of these worlds you can use the time as you wish, going back as much as you want. Although not everyone will respond the same. There will be a screen where some objects are immune, so you will not be able to pass or overcome them if that key element is no longer where it should be. Of course there will also be worlds in which the “shadow” of the protagonist will help you after rewinding.

Without a doubt it is a game that if you did not get to enjoy it at the time, it is not at all a bad option if you do it now. A proposal of those that are more enjoyed if you are looking for a relaxed title and capable of making you think at the same time.

To download Braid on PC you just have to go to Steam , on Mac you have it in the Mac App Store and on Xbox and Playstation in their respective stores.
