Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review: Features, Opinion and Price

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

There is a wide variety of True Wireless type headphones, but not all offer the same or are worth the same. For a few weeks I have been able to test the high-end of Bose, a recent proposal that completes its QuietComfort range and that I would dare to say that it offers the best active noise cancellation in this type of product. Of course, it has a price to pay and it is not exactly economical for what I say. This has been my experience with the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds .

Size Matters

It is evident that the first thing that catches the attention of these Bose QuietComfort Earbuds is their design and not precisely because it is minimalist but because almost the opposite. They are headphones that may not even be attractive at first , because when one thinks of True Wireless headphones the idea is that of a small type of device, comfortable to use and even transport.

You do not have that here or, at least, not in the same way that other of its main rivals do. Because, as you can see in the images, they are of generous dimensions . And it is true that there are some other models that also offer elements such as the case – where they are stored and loaded – quite large, but here is the case and it is the headphones themselves. So if you are looking for something more discreet, initially they may not be the ideal solution.

Despite this, and to the surprise of many, they are very comfortable to use headphones , but not only that. If they stand out for something, it is because they offer a very high level of support. This is thanks to that silicone fin that it incorporates in the interchangeable pad that Bose offers. Although looking for the negative part, the downside is that they are not the usual type that many in-ear headphones use. Therefore, if the official Bose ones are damaged or you buy or you will not even be able to try with those that other brands offer with different materials, etc., which can always bring some extra benefit.

For the rest, on a physical level it is necessary to know that both the left and right earphones integrate a tactile control that by means of the use of several touches or long presses allows to carry out various actions.

  • Left earphone : two touches change between the 3 levels of noise cancellation that can be set as favorites from the application and by holding down you access the direct access with which you can know the battery level or jump to the next song
  • Right earbud : by sliding up or down you can control the volume. If you play or stop the content twice all times, it also serves to answer or hang up a call. Finally, if you hold down you can access the voice assistant or reject an incoming call

Finally, the case is not only notable for its generous dimensions (3.17 x 8.9 x 5.08 cm), it is also fair to say that they offer extra autonomy for two full charge cycles (a total of 18 hours of battery life). autonomy), USB C connection and the option to charge it wirelessly in Qi charging bases.

Outstanding wearing experience

Bose is not a fan of audio matters and with these Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds it proves it again, not only in terms of sound quality but also in the wearing experience itself. And that is difficult to compete with what manufacturers like Apple and Google offer with their respective AirPods and Pixel Buds, because in the end they are developing hardware that integrates perfectly with their software.

However, the work that Bose has been doing together with its application available for iOS and Android make the process of pairing your headphones very simple . As well as the rest of the configuration options that allow, among other things, to be able to know which are the pads that best fit your ears. Which by the way, they do not have to be the same in each one of them. That is, as many other brands also recommend, Bose does an independent test because size 1 may be more effective on the left ear and size 2 on the right for example.

So, once the application is downloaded and started, you just have to open the case so that the headphones are detected and can guide you through the entire pairing process. Likewise, if you are going to use the headphones with another device such as a computer, smart TV or console, you only have to press the Bluetooth pairing button inside the case for a few seconds and wait for both headphones to change their LEDs to blue. and begin to blink smoothly.

When you already have the headphones connected, from the app they will give you indications about how they work and it will be through it that you can choose different settings such as the noise cancellation levels you prefer to use or the function of its direct access. An easy to use application that is worth investigating a while to know each option. Of course, for now nothing to be able to configure the touches. Something that is partly appreciated because it avoids mess. They are what they are and you just have to memorize them.

My only big drawback is that they only memorize one device, that means that from the app it will be where you can deactivate the pairing with one or another of those that you have been able to link. It does not offer that automatic change as the AirPods do or the option of having a couple of devices (smartphone and computer for example) as it did with the Bose NC 700.

Ah, I did not forget, when you use them hands-free, the microphones are capable of capturing a fairly clear and quality sound, so that when you speak on the phone or through video applications they will hear you well.

They sound great, but their noise cancellation is even better.

With all this, we had to talk about the sound quality and the noise cancellation system , its main value . So let’s go in parts and start with how they behave with all kinds of multimedia content.

If you are a fan of the equalization that Bose performs in its products, it is clear that these Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are going to like yes or yes. Because throughout the spectrum of frequencies the behavior is outstanding . There may be nuances and depending on your preferences you can demand a little more clarity or punch in the bass, but during all these days it has seemed to me that whatever content you play they sound great.

In addition, not only that, they also offer very robust connectivity and unless you go out of the range of the Bluetooth connection you will not suffer any cuts or interference caused by a loss of signal or the use of other wireless devices around you.

Of course, it is the noise cancellation system that most caught my attention. There are proposals such as that of Apple and its AirPods Pro or that of Sony that have proven to be at a high level, but here I have to admit that it seems to me that it has surpassed both.

What Bose already achieved with the Bose NC700 that we also analyzed carries over to these Earbuds and that is very surprising because we have an in-ear design and not a headband type, so it is easier for some external noise to get in. But here part of the success is in that particular design of the pads and that instead of a rounded shape it is an arrow type.

When you put the headphones on, the feeling of isolation from the outside is very pronounced. It is true that at first it collides a little more than with other in-ear, but since you also have a transparency mode that works very naturally when activated it disappears quickly.

So the first cancellation method, the passive one, works brilliantly. But it’s the active noise cancellation that stands out as soon as you start playing with its different levels. You can set up to 10 levels of noise cancellation , being zero is the transparency mode with which you can listen to what is happening around you and as you increase, you isolate yourself.

Testing how it behaves in cafeterias, giving a pass or even at home while the little ones play, I have to say that I had not enjoyed active noise cancellation so much. What’s more, on some occasions without even playing content, I have had them on to isolate myself and enjoy a quiet time.

Therefore, I think that if what you are looking for is headphones whose main use is to allow you to isolate yourself from outside noise and you do not want them to be of the headband type, these from Bose could be the best option.

The price of brutal noise cancellation

After reading all this analysis where I tell you about the product and my experience with it, I think it will be clear to you what these Bose QuietComfort Earbuds offer and what they do not.

To begin with, we have a proposal with a very high sound quality and an outstanding noise cancellation system . It really is their great asset and so you should consider them if you are looking for a high-end solution and are demanding. In addition, the Bluetooth connection does not offer any lag and you can use them even for tasks such as audio and video editing, although it is not ideal when compared to monitors or studio headphones.

However, all this has a price and it is not exactly economic to the only thing we refer to. It is true that these Bose True Wireless headphones cost about 230 euros , but if you have tried proposals of this type of range you will know that it is worth it. The big drawback for me at least is that they are too big. Both the case when you want to carry it “discreetly” in your pants pocket and the headphones themselves.

It is true that the case can be stored in a coat, backpack or bag and it is not that in your pants pocket they will bother you excessively, but they are larger than you had thought. And the headphones are comfortable, they don’t feel heavy and hold well, but they’re also clearly visible, especially on the black model, so that’s what you have to assess. If you want quality in all aspects, the size is the same as the price you have to pay.
