Since Android 12 beta versions were released, we have read countless user reviews of complaints about using smart home controls. Many of us trusted that sooner or later this change would be solved, but nevertheless it has not been like that and when its final version has arrived we have to make several touches to get to those smart controls.
Although Android 11 was not a big setback in several aspects as it has happened with the new functions of Android 12, it introduced the smart device menu. Something that perhaps users liked more than the developers themselves and Google, because this is what we are missing so much. A strange function that only 1 year later disappears without clear explanations and reasons.

We know that most of the home automation controls are allowed through smart speakers or we could even turn to the mobile phone and the Google assistant, although there are times when it is more comfortable to use the mobile. This, however, with Android 12 forces us to make several touches , to lower the shortcut bar and touch device control. Whereas before we only had to leave the power button pressed for a few seconds, even with the smartphone locked.
Now, however, if we try to do this process in the latest version of the operating system, we come across a shutdown menu that does not give rise to nothing more than four basic options such as emergency mode, security lock, shutdown or restart.
The solution we wanted
While Google has rested on its laurels, there are advanced users who have tried to end this change and their remedy is reaching anyone who wants to launch it on their smartphone. Something that we can achieve with the help of Tasker , an app well known among the most advanced Android users for the extra possibilities it offers.
The only but that can be put to the project that we can export to our smartphone is that for the smart controls to appear, they must be compatible with Alexa, if it only accepts Google Assistant we will not be able to carry it out. Once we have the file on our smartphone and install it in Tasker, we will see that when we press the power button for a long time, a series of icons appear at the bottom that refer to the smart controller that we can use. This way we will get from turning the lights on or off, to doing the same with television.
