You can use some Adobe tools for free on Windows. Acrobat Reader handles PDFs, Bridge helps organize files, and Express and Color run in your browser. The whole Creative Cloud suite is not free. Some tools have a free plan, some limit AI use, and others only offer a short trial.

Free Adobe options by task
| Tool | Where it runs | What you can do for free | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acrobat Reader | Windows application. | View, print, annotate and sign PDFs. | Advanced PDF editing and conversion can require paid Acrobat. |
| Adobe Bridge | Desktop application. | Preview, organize, rate and manage creative assets. | It does not provide a free license for paid applications opened from it. |
| Adobe Express Free | Web browser on Windows. | Basic designs and standard editing with free assets. | Premium content and features are separate; the documented free storage allowance is 5 GB. |
| Adobe Color | Web browser. | Explore and create color palettes. | Saving and connected workflows may ask you to sign in. |
| Adobe Firefly Free | Web browser. | Try a limited set of generative features. | Free daily generation limits, model access and paid plans apply. |
What can you do with free Reader?
Use Reader to read PDFs, add comments or sign a suitable form. Editing PDF text or converting a PDF to Word may require paid Acrobat. Check the feature’s price before starting.
To write or edit a document, see our free Word alternatives. Reading a PDF and editing the Word file it came from are different jobs.
Use Bridge to organize files
Bridge is free to download. It helps you preview, rate, tag and organize creative files. Opening a file in Photoshop from Bridge does not give you a Photoshop license. Check the Windows and Adobe-account requirements before installing.
What is free in Express and Firefly?
Express Free lets you make basic designs in your browser. Choose free images, templates and tools, and watch for upgrade prompts. A design that uses Premium content may need a paid plan.
Adobe’s AI usage guide describes limited free daily generations on selected models. Old articles may quote a fixed monthly Firefly allowance that no longer applies. Check the allowance in your account; paid plans may offer more.
Free accounts and trials: what is the difference?
A free Adobe account gives you access to the free tools available to that account. A trial of a paid app only lasts for a set time. Read the payment and renewal terms before starting a trial.
Download from Adobe’s official product page. Check that you are getting Reader if that is what you need, rather than an Acrobat trial. Also check the platform: a free mobile app does not necessarily include a free Windows version.
Premiere Rush is no longer a current download choice
Adobe ended Premiere Rush support on September 30, 2026. It had already removed the main download options for new users in 2025. For a current editor, compare these free video-editing alternatives.
