If you forget a Huawei Digital Balance PIN, try the recovery options before erasing your phone. Depending on how the phone was set up, you may be able to answer the security question or sign in with the parent’s linked HUAWEI ID. The menu names and options depend on the phone and software.
What is a Digital Balance PIN?

Digital Balance lets you set limits on screen time and app use. Huawei’s guide to the feature explains how a parental-control password helps stop others from changing those limits. The Digital Balance PIN is the code set for this feature. It may be different from your screen-unlock PIN, SIM PIN or HUAWEI ID password.
If a phone you just bought or received already asks for this PIN, find out who set up Digital Balance. Ask the parent, previous owner or retailer for help before erasing any data.
Choose the right way to reset your PIN
| Your situation | Start here | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| You know the PIN | Digital Balance’s security or disable settings | Use the code set for the feature. |
| You forgot the PIN but know the security answer | The Forgot PIN/password option | Use the options shown on your phone. |
| The phone was set up for a child and linked to a parent’s HUAWEI ID | Sign in with the parent’s account using Reset protection | The parent needs to sign in with the linked account. |
| Neither recovery method is available | Huawei support and the model’s reset instructions | A factory reset erases data. You may still need to sign in with the linked account. |
Reset using the security question
For a phone set up for a child, Huawei’s PIN reset guide gives these steps: Settings → Digital Balance → Security settings → Change PIN → Forgot your PIN? Answer the security question or use the linked HUAWEI ID shown on that screen. Then choose a new PIN.
Other software versions may use different menu names. Look for the reset option on the Digital Balance password screen. A reset page for a different password may not change this PIN.
Reset using the linked parent’s HUAWEI ID
Huawei’s Digital Balance / Student mode support guide explains Reset protection for a child’s phone linked to the parent’s account during setup. On the password screen, choose the forgotten-password option, then the option to use the parent’s account. The parent can sign in and reset the Digital Balance PIN and security question.
If the parent has forgotten their account password, use Huawei’s official account recovery first. Use the account already linked to this phone, rather than a different Huawei account.
How to remove or disable Digital Balance
For the child setup described by Huawei, go to Settings → Digital Balance → Disable Digital Balance and enter the PIN when asked. Reset the PIN first if you don’t know it.
AppGallery has its own access restrictions. Huawei suggests clearing AppGallery data in some cases, but that isn’t a general way to remove a Digital Balance PIN.
What if you still can’t reset the PIN?
If you can’t use the recovery options for your setup, Huawei’s guide includes a factory reset. This deletes personal data saved on the phone. Check that your backup is ready and that you know the required Huawei account passwords first. If you can still use the phone, save the files and information you need.
After a reset, you may still need to sign in with the phone’s HUAWEI ID if Find My Phone was on. Reset protection may also ask for the parent’s account to turn off Student mode. Follow Huawei’s instructions for your model. One button sequence won’t work for every phone.
If you can’t sign in with the linked account, or your phone’s options don’t match the guide, take the phone and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei service centre. Don’t keep resetting it while the account problem remains.
Check your phone’s model and installed software when following a guide. Our Huawei EMUI update and rollback guide explains which update and downgrade methods may work for your phone. Follow the PIN recovery steps instead of trying a different EMUI version.
