Samsung Health Shows Zero Steps for Older Days? Check Daily Activity

If Samsung Health shows zero steps for a day you know you walked, open Daily activity and check the same date. A count there means you can still see that day’s steps, even if the separate Steps chart shows zero.

In early November, several Galaxy owners reported seeing recent steps as usual while some earlier days showed zero in Steps. They could still see counts for those days in Daily activity. The dates varied across the reports on Samsung Community and r/GalaxyWatch.

Compare the same date in Steps and Daily activity

  1. Check Steps. Open Samsung Health on your phone, go to Home and tap Steps. Select a date you remember being active. Swipe the chart to reach earlier days if needed. See Samsung’s guide to the Steps screen.
  2. Check Daily activity. Go back to Home, open Daily activity and select the same date using its date controls. Compare the step count with what you saw in Steps.
  3. Check a recent day. Repeat the comparison on a day when your phone or watch recorded steps recently. This helps you tell whether the gap affects older dates or current tracking too.

New steps are missing on both devicesTake a short walk and check whether either counter moves. Start with current step tracking if both counts stay the same.

If older steps are missing from both screens

Check that Samsung Health is signed in to the Samsung account you used when those steps were recorded. In Samsung Health, open the three-dot menu and tap Settings. Open the sync settings and try Sync now if it is available. Samsung’s support guide calls this menu Sync with Samsung Cloud.

You can also check what records are available in an export. In Samsung Health, open Settings, tap Download personal data, and then tap Download. After it finishes, open My Files and look in Downloads for the Samsung Health folder. The export gives you files to inspect. See Samsung’s data download instructions.

If your phone is missing new steps from your watch

Open Galaxy Wearable and check that the watch is connected. In Samsung Health on the phone, open Steps, tap the three-dot menu, and choose All steps under Select step data to show, if that option appears. Sync again and check today’s count. For connection problems, see our Galaxy Watch troubleshooting guide.

If you track steps with just your phone and the count has stopped moving, check how your phone’s tracker is set up. Start with our guide to turning on the step counter on a Samsung phone.

How to report missing step history to Samsung

If the gap persists, open Samsung Health and go to Settings → Contact us → Error reports. Include these details so Samsung can see which part of the app is affected. See Samsung’s instructions for reporting an app issue.

  • Your phone model, watch model if you use one, and Samsung Health app version.
  • One affected date and the count shown on each screen.
  • Whether recent days still show steps and whether the watch and phone agree.

FAQs

Are my old Samsung Health steps gone?

If Daily activity shows a count for an affected date, you can still read that day’s total there. If both screens are blank, check the account and Sync settings, then look for that date in a data export.

Why does the gap start around November 2?

Some owners reported a gap around November 2. The reports show when they first noticed the problem. Samsung’s cause and a fix for this specific pattern were still unverified on November 8.

Will reinstalling Samsung Health bring back the Steps chart?

Some affected users still saw the gap after reinstalling. Check Daily activity and download any available records before removing the app or clearing its storage.

Can I use the data download to restore the chart?

Samsung’s download feature saves a copy you can review. To see the count in the app, check Daily activity for the same date.
