YouTube Will Show Ads on All Videos, But It Wont Pay for All

YouTube is a great platform for content creators , where, although it may be difficult at first, money can be made by monetizing videos. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get started as YouTube increased the minimum requirements to monetize videos with ads. Now, the platform is going to show those ads even in channels without monetizing, and without paying the small creators of the content.

This is how YouTube is announcing it by email to all users of the platform, where it has announced a change of conditions of use . Among the most important news, we find that the company assigns itself the right to monetize all the content on the platform, stating that they may show ads in videos of channels that are not part of the YouTube Partner Program.

YouTube Will Show Ads on All Videos

YouTube will put ads on all videos

This Partner Program raised the requirements to participate. Currently, you need to accumulate more than 4,000 valid public viewing hours in the last 12 months , and have more than 1,000 subscribers . That means that users probably won’t see money for the first few months of creating content. But YouTube is going to see it with this new change, where it will take advantage of this content to display ads.

The ads that YouTube will show can be in the content itself, such as ads that can be skipped or banners in the playback window, or next to it on the side. You can also indirectly collect part of the money from YouTube Premium users.

In addition to this change, YouTube will also limit the charges that youtubers make. That change comes because, from now on, YouTube income payments are considered royalties from a United States tax point of view, so now Google will withhold taxes from those payments as required by the law of the country.

Finally, the platform has also made it clear that it restricts the use of facial recognition technologies, where it will not be possible to identify a person without their permission. This has always applied, but is now explicitly stated in the updated terms.

Another stone in the way of small content creators

The new conditions will take effect from June 1, 2021 . The acceptance of conditions will be automatic if you continue to use the platform, so you will not have to do anything if you are a normal user. If you are a content creator, this introduction of non-monetized ads is likely to affect you as it reduces the time that users spend watching the videos, making it slightly more difficult to monetize the channel in the long term.
