Xiaomi Will Not Include a Charger in the Box of the Mi 11

Do you remember the one that was assembled when Apple announced that it was removing the charger from the iPhone case ? Many understood that it was an unnecessary move that simply affected the user, and even the opponents of the industry joined the cause and made jokes and memes around the decision. Well, it seems that some have changed their minds.

Xiaomi also wants to take care of the environment

Xiaomi Will Not Include a Charger

Xiaomi has officially announced through a publication on its Weibo account, that it will remove the charger from the box of its next Mi 11 with the idea of protecting the environment, and incidentally, offering a more compact and lightweight packaging. The measure comes with quite a surprise for fans of the brand, since Xiaomi had previously joked with Apple’s decision to remove the charger from the iPhone 12.

Whether for the environment or not, the brand ensures that there are many users who already have a fully compatible charger at home, so it thinks it unnecessary to include an accessory that may not be used again.

The old shippers’ dilemma

On the one hand, the manufacturers who have decided to take the step towards this initiative could be right, however, the main problem for the user is that the device does not see its price reduced after eliminating the charger, something that is especially annoying when we talk about phones of several figures.

In addition, it will be necessary to take into account that at some point, after several generations, users will not have chargers at home when they go to buy a new phone, and it will be then that they must pay the additional price that the brand estimates, thus further increasing the total price of the new device to be purchased.

It is not a question of the price of the charger

Apple may have a somewhat abusive price for its charger, but it is not something we expect at Xiaomi, where the charger is probably sold for a fairly cheap price. The problem here is that the user is clearly affected, although we will have to wait until we know the final price of the Mi 11 when it hits stores.

We must also take into account the image that Xiaomi has left in the face of its fans, since, if at first it proudly defended offering the charger without excuses, now it completely changes its opinion and seems to care about the environmental side of the industry.

A fashion that is coming

Xiaomi will not be the only one. Rumors also suggest that Samsung will choose the same path, eliminating the charger from the future Galaxy S11 and putting its tweets and statements in defense of the charger included in the box on trial again (tweets that have been deleted, by the way).

It seems that 2021 is going to be the year of recycled chargers, but if this serves to improve the batteries and give life to new, more efficient and compatible chargers (such as GaN chargers), welcome.
