Xiaomi Mi A1 Will No Longer Receive Android Updates

It is true that Xiaomi launches a large number of devices at the end of the year, but at the same time it has been abandoning some of its most iconic families. In this way, we have not heard from the Mi Mix family again and the more than rumored Mi Mix 4, as well as the Mi Max or the terminals of the Mi A family. In addition, some terminals, such as the Mi A1, they are nearing the end of their life when it comes to updates, at least in official terror.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 was Xiaomi’s commitment to the Android One project, and it became popular with many users. These terminals, which were later joined by the Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite or Mi A3, put aside MIUI to offer the user the purest Android possible. There are still many users who keep their Mi A1 as new , although Xiaomi seems to have officially ended its support. This means that the terminal can be more exposed to security threats, although there is always the possibility that Xiaomi will update it exceptionally in the event of critical security breaches.

Two months without receiving updates

Recall that as part of the Android One program, the terminal has three years of updates, including two major operating system updates. This is how it was born with Android 7 and officially finished with Android 9 Pie. The terminal went on sale in September 2017, and in August, the terminal received what was suspected as its last update. Having not received new updates either last September or the month of October that ends, it seems clear that Xiaomi has ended the official support for the Mi A1.

Now the hope that many harbored seems discarded, with a possible update to Android 10 of the device. However, the community got down to work some time ago to bring Android 10 to the Xiaomi Mi A1. Specialized forums like XDA are full of custom and stable Roms that bring some of today’s mobile news to the veteran Mi A1. If your Mi A1 works correctly and you do not want to get rid of it, it may be the best method to keep it new, such as dark mode, the new Android gestures or better privacy management.
