Xbox Series X and S Update: New Menu Backgrounds

Xbox Series X

Microsoft continues with its intense pace of releasing updates with new features month by month, and the fact of having launched two new next-generation consoles has not prevented the manufacturer from continuing with its monthly ritual. And what news have included two newly launched consoles? Well, that’s what we’re going to talk about next.

A more lively menu

One of the most striking novelties is related to the visual aspect. In the configuration section, we will now find more options available within the customization options for animated backgrounds, since the brand has included six new dynamic themes with which to give movement and color to your main screen.

For now, customization is still quite basic, and although we can continue to replace these backgrounds with personalized images, the main attraction will be that of these new backgrounds, since they move at all times and give a sense of depth in the menu.

To access the new options you must visit the Settings menu > Personalization> My color and Background> Dynamic backgrounds.

New tags to detect auto HDR

Another novelty will be related to the activation of the different video modes that will be given in games and reproductions. For example, have you ever wondered if what you are playing has enhanced HDR mode? The arrival of the new generation has included improvements at the level of performance in games, and one of them is the possibility of applying HDR to those games that did not have it at launch. Well, now you want to know if said game has it activated or not, you only have to press a button.

You will only have to press the Guide button on the remote to activate the system menu and be able to find the new Auto HDR label that will indicate that the content you are currently watching is having this effect applied. You will find this label in the upper right area.

Many more news

But the thing does not end there, since this new update incorporates many more novelties with which to polish the system and include new functions. For example, games optimized for Xbox Series X and Series S will display an X | S label on the artwork displayed in the library so you know that the game will take advantage of the capabilities of the new consoles. The configuration of family profiles from the first console configuration screen has also been included.

Finally, a feature that is not yet activated but that will come soon ”is to be able to download the Xbox Game Pass games before they are officially launched. Thus, many users will be able to advance time by installing the game in advance on their console, so that when the launch day arrives they only have to press the button to open the application.

Not all games will offer the feature, but you can find those that do in the Xbox Game Pass app on both console and mobile.
