We are living in a troubled time that is already part of the history books. Our whole life has changed including the way we interact with others. Reducing contact between people, of course, includes minimizing where possible touching where others have touched. Once again, our mobile will be able to help us in this task, in something as common as withdrawing money from the ATM, without having to touch the buttons to do so.
It is one of the most logical measures we can expect. When we want to withdraw cash, we have to go to an ATM and touch buttons and a screen that many other people touch. This increases the risk of contagion, especially in those people who neglect hygiene measures such as continuous hand washing. Now, a new experimental technology from the company AGS Transact Technologies, is being tested in India with the function called “Touchles ATM”, which is compatible with all mobiles and all operating systems.

Mobile to the rescue
Our mobile will once again come out with a technology that paints to be implanted worldwide in a short period of time. As we say, the first tests are being carried out in India, and cardholders can actually withdraw money from an ATMscanning a QR code on the machine’s screen, without having to touch the surface. In this specific case, the withdrawal occurs in six steps and the money will be available in seconds. First, it will be necessary to open the Bank’s mobile application and select «QR Cash Withdrawal». Then the amount you want to withdraw is marked in the mobile application and the QR code is scanned on the ATM screen. Once the amount has been confirmed by clicking on “continue” and the PIN number is authenticated. After these steps the money can be withdrawn.
The system also prevents manual entry of a PIN that can be intercepted by third parties. In Spain we learned a couple of months ago of the arrival of a similar technology from Minsait, Indra’s technological subsidiary, thanks to the solution called TAPP. This infrastructure has yet to be implemented in ATMs worldwide . However, it is another of the forced impulses to the advancement of technology, due to the Coronavirus pandemic. What do you think of the measure? Should the withdrawal of money be implemented on a massive scale with the mobile phone and without contact with the ATM?
