Windows 10 Version 1903 – End of Support for Update

Windows 10 is updated to make way for a new version every 6 months. And each of these updates usually has a support of about 18 months . In that time, the operating system has already received three new feature updates and, therefore, Microsoft considers that version as “outdated” and stops updating it and providing any support. It seems that it was yesterday when Microsoft released the ” May 2019 Update “, the May update for Windows 10. But what was yesterday is when this update was out of support.

Yesterday, December 8, 2020, Windows 10 version 1903 was running out of its last day of life. Starting today, all users still using this version will no longer receive updates and all kinds of support from Microsoft. Any bugs that appear, or vulnerabilities that are discovered, will not be fixed.

Normally, just as each new version is released every 6 months, the old versions lose their six-month support in six months. However, given the strange situation of all of 2020, Microsoft extended support for Windows 10 1809 (the Fall 2018 update for the operating system) until just a month ago. Since November, this version no longer has any type of support. And, from today, 1903 is added.

Check what version of Windows 10 I have

Do you have the updated computer? Do you know what version of Windows you have? Having Windows 10 without updating today is pointless. In addition to being dangerous, due to security problems, it prevents us from taking full advantage of the functions and characteristics of the operating system. In the end, everything is inconvenient.

To check which version of Windows 10 we have installed, what we must do is look in the Windows 10 search bar “About”, and open the option ” About your PC ” that will appear. We can also go to the Windows Settings menu, and open the “System”> “About” section.

If the version we have is 1903, or any earlier, our PC will be in danger, since we will have a version without support. If we have 1909, 2004 or Windows 10 20H2 installed , then we will be using a supported version of Windows. Of course, we will have to make sure to install the latest patches from Windows Update so that our PC works correctly.

How to update Windows

There are several ways to update Windows to the latest version. The most common, quick and easy is to search for new versions from Windows Update. When using an old version of the operating system, a message will appear that will allow us to update to a more modern version of it, either to the latest 20H2, or to a previous version that is still supported.
