Since last year, a ghost has been haunting the European technology industry and it is that the European Union approved the proposal to standardize USB-C as a single charger in all devices. Currently, about a month ago, the European Parliament gave the green light to this measure, approving a provisional agreement that has not completely convinced companies like Apple, since the company’s iPhones use a Lightning port.
This has brought with it all kinds of rumors about the disappearance of this class of entry in the future launch of the Cupertino company, that is, the next iPhone 14 series . Precisely for this reason it is time to uncover the reality regarding the flagship of the American brand.

No USB-C for iPhone, for now…
Converting the USB Type C port into a standard for any device is an issue that has given much to talk about in the last year, but everything has come to an end, since we already have a verdict from the European Parliament.
The European government is very vehement in its fight for sustainable energy consumption, and that is why it has not stopped for a moment to achieve its mission despite the disagreement of large companies. Although it is true that it is not yet completely official, since the legal approval of this legislation is pending to be published in the Official Journal of the EU.

However, the date of entry into force of this measure is already indicated in the calendar for autumn 2024 . So the iPhone 14 will not have to adapt to this law, nor will the iPads, AirPods or any other device of the entity. In Apple this decision has not sat well and this is shown by the words exposed in the BBC:
“We remain concerned that strict regulation imposing only one type of connector will stifle innovation rather than encourage it, which in turn will hurt consumers in Europe.”
And future releases?
Manufacturers have a period of 24 months from the approval of this European standard regarding the USB-C port to modify their devices. This means that they have two years ahead to operate without any problem, so there will be no problems for the iPhone 15 next year, since it is still within the established period.

The same does not happen with the iPhone 16 , whose launch would be scheduled (if everything follows the natural order) for September 2024. A year in which the term would have already ended and that forces the company to discard the Lightning port forever in their smartphones to bet on the USB-C input.
There is no doubt that this fact will be historic, because since its inception Apple has opted for a different connector than usual. They did not use micro USB or USB-C so far, although in a matter of two years everything seems to change and you will be able to break your Lightning cable without problems.
