Sometimes we have several options to choose from and we need to know which one has the most signal intensity and therefore will work better for us.

Luckily we can make use of different tools that help us check the quality of the signal. An example is Wifinian , which we are going to talk about. It is a free program for Windows with which we can check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal. We will explain how to use it.
Wifinian, the tool to check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal
We can use Wifinian for various functions. One of them is simply to know the signal strength of our Wi-Fi network. Let’s say that the router is in another room and we doubt if we get a good signal and we want to know exactly the power. It is a piece of information that can help us to see if we should install an amplifier or the like.
Therefore, Wifinian tells us the percentage from 0 to 100 of a specific network. We will know at all times how the signal is reaching us and if we must improve it to obtain greater speed.
It also helps to find out which available network has the best signal . It is common for us to find ourselves in one place, or even in our own home, and we have several networks or access points available to connect us.
We can use Wifinian both as a portable or installable version . In both cases, the operation is similar and is not difficult. It is an open source software that we can download from GitHub .
Once we open the program, the wireless networks we have connected to lately will appear. Some may not be in range. Below each of these networks it shows us the intensity of the signal measured in percentage from 0 to 100. It also shows us other data such as the type of encryption it uses. Each of the connections that appears comes with its name.
The actual current we are connected to appears on a lighter blue background. In this way we will know exactly which one we are connected to and see its signal, to see if it is worth connecting to another available network that may have a higher intensity.
At the top left we will see a circle that moves when we open the program interface. That means it is checking for new networks available and updating the signal for existing networks. It does this when we open the application, but we can mark the Rush option so that it does it automatically on a regular basis. Next to Rush we will see the number 30, which means that it will perform a search every 30 seconds. We can modify that time. To do this, we simply click on the number and we will see what changes.
Something very interesting about Wifinian is that we can mark a minimum signal percentage to connect. Also, by checking the Engage option, we can configure the application to automatically connect to the network with a higher signal.
For the latter to be possible, the Auto Switch option must be checked . If we observe, just below the name of each network there are two options: Auto Connect and Auto Switch. We must mark the latter as well.
Another option that we have available is to change the name of the network that appears in the application. So we can have more control. To do this, we simply click with the mouse on the name for two seconds and it will allow us to put whatever we want.
In short, Wifinian is a totally free tool for Windows with which we can manage our wireless connections more. We can obtain relevant information regarding the intensity of the signal.
