Changing the rate is not always something simple that we can usually do in one day. And not because of the procedures that have to be done, but rather because of the conditions that we want to achieve with a new rate. However, this sometimes does not depend on us, since, believe it or not, our operator can change our rate without us being able to do anything about it.
However, in the event that we do not agree with the future change of conditions that the operator is going to carry out, we will have a possibility in this regard to act freely if we wish, as long as we have been previously notified of the modification. . But, what happens if the rate change is made without notifying us?

How does the operator have to act?
One of the first points that we must take into account when answering the question that is probably on the minds of many is how the operator has to act when changing the conditions of our mobile, fiber or TV. Well, it is important to know that the different telephone operators in Spain have permission to modify the rates . However, there are two key points that must be adhered to at all times:
- They have to notify affected customers one month in advance of the change in their respective rates.
- They must remove all types of permanence from customers who are going to suffer the change in conditions in their rates.

Therefore, if these two conditions are met, we will have nothing to do to avoid the modification. Well, it is something that is explained in detail in Royal Decree 899/2009 on user rights of electronic communications services. In addition, the change must be sent to the CNMC to receive its approval.
The truth is that it will be unusual for a telephone company to change a rate without notifying users, as it would go against the Spanish legal system. But, if this is the case, we will have to contact the operator and make a claim. And, in the worst case, we will have the option of taking legal action against the operator.
What options do affected customers have?
The most common is that, when making this change, the operator notifies us one month in advance. But, in the event that we do not agree with the new conditions that it offers us, the truth is that we can always terminate the contract that binds us to the company in question. And the best of all is that we will not have to pay any type of penalty for breaching the permanence (if we had one).
Basically, because if the conditions of the contract that bound us with the operator have been modified, we will have the right to go to another company or, if we want to stay, change to another rate with other conditions. But, in any case, what is clear is that we will have the option to decide. Although, the operator itself will establish a maximum date if we want to terminate the contract without penalty or change to another rate .
