When Will Final Cut Be Released on iPad, Will It Be on iPadOS 15?

In some cases, it is already possible to install iPhone and iPad applications on Mac. However, we do not find this possibility in reverse unless the developer has decided to adapt his macOS app to the ecosystem of Apple tablets and mobiles. This becomes even weirder when you consider the power of the iPad Pro with the M1 chip. Is the time nearing for us to see apps like Final Cut on these devices? And other professional apps? We analyze it.

Reasons to believe iPadOS 15 will make it happen

WWDC 2021 is just around the corner and it is that on its opening day of June 7 we will see presented the following versions of Apple operating systems. There is obvious desire to see iOS 15 and its expected aesthetic changes, the evolution of macOS 12, what health functions watchOS 8 integrates and even if tvOS 15 will change its interface as rumored. However, the highest expectation is raised by iPadOS 15 according to what is seen in the last generation iPad Pro.

When Will Final Cut Be Released on iPad

Already in 2019 this operating system was the protagonist because it was the year it was born, officially separating from iOS and leaving a very open future in possibilities for tablets. The M1 chip that the ‘Pro’ models now mount is also the same that the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini and iMac mount. Therefore, at the hardware level we already have a full-fledged computer. In our review we classified it as a Ferrari without gasoline precisely because of how lame it was so much power with a software that, despite its great advances, still needs something more.

Final Cut en iPad Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Xcode are the most reliable examples of exclusive Mac applications to be on the iPad, because in fact it is Apple itself who is in charge of their development. However, there are many other professional applications that do not yet have their space on iPad and if they do, it is in a very ‘light’ way, without offering versions as complete as the desktop ones. Obviously, transforming a PC experience into a format that also supports touch controls is not a one-day task, but there are already enough tools and reasons to do so.

Apple has been warning for years with its marketing that this was going to happen. The continuous comparison of the iPad with the computers, even going so far as to affirm that there were more, were more than premeditated. It is true that the iPad gives you other possibilities that a Mac does not, and the Apple Pencil is a good example of this. But it is still insufficient for many to take the final step and truly see in them an alternative to computers or at least allow themselves to have a second option with them if they decide to continue using the Mac as a priority. And yes, the time is now.

But what if it didn’t happen or at least not completely?

With all the humility in the world, without more data than anyone can have, in this writing we believe that indeed iPadOS 15 will do something to bring Mac elements to the iPad. Of course, we also take into account the opposite possibility or that at least it is not the way we want. As our colleague Fernando del Moral explained in a recent podcast , Apple is a company that wants to take good care of its developers because apps are one of the differentiating factors with other platforms. Launching Final Cut on iPadOS could be the beginning of the end for apps like Luma Fusion , an app that also promotes the Californian company whenever it has the chance.

The doubts are on the table, the wishes too. Now we just need to make the clock start running and arrive that June 7 at 7:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time) to begin to find out about doubts. Will iPadOS ‘macOSification’ arrive?
