What Will the New Apple iPads Look Like in 2020?

Apple‘s biggest leaker spoke out last week. Jon Prosser claimed to have specific information about the launch of new Apple products and although the absolute star of these leaks was the iPhone 12, the analyst also spoke of new iPads. We have had rumors throughout 2020 about a revolution in the iPad Air range, will that be the one to be announced soon? We discuss everything below.

IPad 2020, revolutionary iPad Air, or both?

The second week of September could bring surprises if really the information released by Jon Prosser are real. He commented that a new iPad and Apple Watch Series 6 would be seen that week through a press release. This is something strange for the second, since it has always been presented in a special event, although the circumstances given by the COVID-19 pandemic could be more than enough to justify this exceptional fact.

What Will the New Apple iPads Look Like in 2020

Returning to the iPad, we would find two possibilities. The first one is that it is the traditional renewal of the student iPad range, which would be the eighth generation model also known as iPad 2020. This model would hardly represent a change with respect to the current one beyond the classic processor renewal by a more than likely A11 (the same as the iPhone 8 and X).

Another possibility that we find is to see an expected design change in the iPad Air . It has been several months since an idea that they handle in the Apple Park regarding this range of tablets arose. It is said that they could undergo a design change that would make it more similar to the ‘Pro’ range, including a reduction of frames and even the possibility of having Touch ID integrated into the screen itself. The times that occurred marked the end of this 2020 as a probable date, but the truth is that at this point it seems unlikely.

There are several factors that play against this last possibility. The main thing is the current range of iPad Pro, which could be overshadowed too much with the arrival of those hypothetical ‘Air’ revolutionary. On the other hand, it seems strange that the company has managed to fully develop this technology in a year as complicated as this. Finally there would be the strangeness of presenting such an outstanding device through a simple press release instead of being reserved for an event.

It is probably the iPad 2020 that will be renewed this September, but if it is the intermediate model it points more to an evolved version of the current one. Perhaps the arrival of a Magic Keyboard with a trackpad compatible with this model could be more than enough for this year. Be that as it may, it is evident that both models are pending update this year and, however minor it may be, we should end up seeing it. We will remain attentive to any information in this regard that indicates which of the two models it will be and what news it would include in its compendium of characteristics.
