Realme Phones: How the New Filters for Real-time Selfies Work

Selfies are one of the most popular photographic content on our mobile phones. And although they have been offering little innovation from manufacturers for years, from time to time there are some that offer us interesting news to give these selfies a different look. This is the case of Realme and its update to Android 11, which offers more improvements than ever.

Taking selfies has become one of the main motivations for using the front camera, in addition to the helpful video calls we make with it. In the case of the Chinese firm, Realme UI 2.0 has brought us many improvements related to them, with greater control over the result of these, which we must know how to manage.

The art of selfie with the help of our Realme

Not all people have the knowledge or skills to take a good selfie. Because in addition to choosing the perspective well when taking these photos, we must take into account other factors. Over the years we have known numerous beauty filters, which have plagued the social networks in many cases of photos of people who have directly distorted their features due to the abuse of these filters , and when they have returned to look at themselves in front of the camera with their real looks have gone through depressive episodes.

Everything related to selfies and beauty effects is something that has become a sensitive topic for many people due to the psychological problems that can arise from poor management of these filters. For that reason, Realme has introduced some filters that are more surgical, instead of offering a very drastic reduction of wrinkles, blemishes and other “accidents” on our faces. Although it has an artificial intelligence mode to reduce these effects somewhat, now we find above all some filters in real time that are capable of changing some details of our features to appear more favored in selfies.

One filters that we can see in real time how they are applied to our face , which can alter the appearance of some of our features, although in a very, very slight way so that the changes do not lead us to look like a caricature. And above all avoid one of the great problems of many selfies, which is losing sight of the real appearance of the person who is photographed. With these new Realme filters we can change some features while always keeping the real appearance of the protagonist of the portraits.

How are these filters used?

Realme UI 2.0 comes with a bunch of such filters under the arm. As we say, the most striking thing is that these are applied in real time, while we are looking at the front camera of our mobile. They can be accessed from the portrait mode of the Chinese firm’s camera. Therefore we must do the following to be able to access the filters:

  • Open the camera of your Realme
  • Select the front camera
  • Click on the “Portrait” mode
  • Press the button with the face icon on the right side of the screen

Once we click on that button we can see all the new filters that this Realme camera offers us. And it is not about applying a single beauty filter that is integrated into our face in a different intensity according to what we choose from zero to one hundred. But we can see different filters focused on different facial features. We have the following filters at our disposal.

  • Soften : this is the classic beauty filter, which basically softens our features and blemishes on the face to instantly rejuvenate us, being able to choose the intensity once we click on the filter.
  • Refine face : what this filter does is lengthen our chin to make it sharper, in such a way that the closer to one hundred, the more elongated our face will look.
  • Enlarge eyes : with this filter we are logically going to be able to boast of larger eyes, a filter that the closer to a hundred the bigger it will show them, something that we should not abuse if we do not want the photos to be unnatural.
  • Reduce nose : In this case, the filter slightly reduces the size of the nose, especially its width. The more intensity of the filter, the smaller our nose will look, although always, as in the rest of the filters, within normal parameters.
  • Refine chin : this is a filter similar to the one used to refine the face, but with the main difference that what is modified is our chin, and not the whole of the face. The more intense the filter, the longer our chin will be.
  • Reduce face : with this filter the size of our face is reduced, something that can be interesting to compensate for certain aberrations that the front cameras generate when photographing us.
  • 3D : finally, this filter gives the selfie a more three-dimensional touch. In such a way that if the image is too flat, a more real face recreation can be generated in real time, with more three-dimensional proportions, as usual, the closer to one hundred, the more real this effect, which creates the phone filling in some features virtually.

The best thing about these filters is that the margin for modification of the different factions is very small, so you cannot achieve radical changes to our appearance, but rather very specific ones. In such a way that we always preserve a natural and coherent appearance. One of the biggest risks of selfies and beauty filters is that they generate distorted images of people, something that does not happen in these cases, as they are very subtle filters, of which we especially love that they show their appearance in real time even before taking the picture.
