Comparison of Motorola Moto G100 vs Xiaomi’s Poco F3

The best equipped mid-range is more interesting than ever, in fact we are increasingly getting to know better examples of devices that offer us excellent features, in many cases high-end, in much cheaper devices. Today we surely bring the two best premium mid-range of the moment, Motorola‘s Moto G100 and Xiaomi Poco F3 .

Two phones that have undoubtedly become an object of desire in the mid-range by releasing one of the most advanced processors of this 2021, and precisely the most powerful that we will see in mobiles just below the flagships.

Screen and dimensions

We are facing two large phones, since they have very generous screens in terms of size. Larger is the Motorola, which has 6.7 inches and Full HD + resolution with two perforated cameras in its corner. It also has a 90Hz refresh rate and an ultra-wide 21: 9 aspect ratio, just like cinema screens for example. In the case of the POCO, the screen is a little smaller, with a size of 6.67 inches , and we have a small perforated camera centered on the top.

In this case, it has AMOLED technology, as well as Full HD + resolution and a higher refresh rate of 120Hz . Its aspect ratio is somewhat less elongated, with 20: 9. Regarding the dimensions, we have a Motorola that is larger, with 168.4 x 74 x 9.7 mm and a weight of 207 grams. While the Poco is somewhat more compact and lightweight, with dimensions of 163.7 x 76.4 x 7.8 mm and weight of 196 grams.

Poco F3

Performance and memory

In this aspect, in its processor, there is a lot of equality, since both have the Snapdragon 870 processor , the most powerful that we will know in 2021 after the 888. It is a processor manufactured in 7nm, with eight cores and that has the GPU Adreno 650.

As for the RAM, we have looked at the cheapest models, which in the case of the Motorola offers 8GB of memory, while the POCO has 6GB. On the internal storage, both models have 128GB, which are also expandable via microSD cards.

Camera

The cameras of these mobiles are of a high level, although quite different from each other, and in the case of the Motorola with a certain advantage. This has a quad camera behind it, which has four sensors commanded by a 64 megapixel main one. It comes with a large ultra-wide angle, with 16 megapixels, as well as a 2 megapixel depth and a 3D TOF to enhance portraits. For its part, the Poco comes with a triple camera, with a 48-megapixel main sensor, and accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle and a 5-megapixel macro. A curious aspect of the Motorola camera is that it has an LED ring next to its macro sensor to take better photos of this type.

Regarding video recording, the Motorola offers more resolution, with a maximum of 6K at 30fps , one of the highest resolutions when we talk about mobiles in this range, only surpassed by the 8K of more expensive mobiles. In the case of the Poco you can record a maximum of 4K at 30fps. Both have high-resolution cameras in front of them. In the Moto G100 it is double, with 16 and 8 megapixel sensors , the latter ultra wide angle. In the case of the Poco we have a large 20 megapixel front camera.

Battery, connectivity and software

In this section there are important differences, although each of them has its strengths. The Motorola Moto G100 comes with a high capacity 5000mAh battery, which can be charged by 20W fast charging. On the other hand, the Poco F3 comes with a smaller battery, 4520mAh , but which charges in less time, thanks to a power of 33W, so in just 50 minutes it is fully charged, at least that is what Xiaomi assures.

Moto G100

Both come with Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac / 6, dual-band GPS, USB Type-C connector and NFC to be able to make mobile payments, so they are very complete in this regard. The software they both have is based on Android 11 , the G100 with Motorola UX and the Poco with MIUI 12.5. As is usual in Xiaomi mobiles, this Poco also comes with a built-in infrared port to control thousands of devices in this traditional way.

Price and conclusion

Well, we are facing two phones that offer a lot and good at somewhat different prices. On the one hand we have the Moto G100, which can currently be purchased in the Motorola store for 499 euros . On the other hand, the Poco can be bought on Amazon for 349 euros, so the price difference between the two is marked, of 150 euros no less. With this all-important aspect in mind, we think the Poco offers enough standout features to be an excellent choice. Starting with its AMOLED screen that also has a refresh rate greater than 120Hz.

For its part, it is true that Motorola has a better camera, with more resolution in key sensors, such as the main one and the ultra wide angle. As well as with a double front, as well as with more RAM. It also has more battery, although the Poco charges faster. Therefore, for those 150 euros less, what we lose is a high-resolution camera on the Xiaomi mobile, but it is still very good of course. Therefore, if the two phones cost the same, the best choice would be the Motorola. But with this important price difference, it is better to buy the Poco , if the camera is not a priority for us, and for example the screen or fast charging.
