Valve Works to Make Steam Deck Compatible with Windows 11

Almost a month ago Valve announced its new console, the Steam Deck , which is similar to a Nintendo Switch in which you can play PC video games. The company has very high expectations for this console and they expect to sell millions, as it offers something that no other console has offered before: playing from a console to PC games on a portable basis. Now Valve is working with AMD to try to make the Steam Deck compatible with Windows 11.

In addition, its 7-inch screen, its quad-core processor and its 1.6 TFLOPS GPU (almost as powerful as a PlayStation 4) make this new console a device that will undoubtedly offer a great gaming experience . In addition, with it you can also play Steam remotely from our home or even away from it.

There should be no problems with Windows 11

For weeks it was known that the console would be able to run the Windows system, but it was not entirely clear how compatible it would be.

The company has assured that it has focused a lot on supporting the Windows system. At the moment they have focused a lot on Windows 10 , but they hope that they can achieve console compatibility with Windows 11 without much problem.

To avoid any possible setback Valve is working with AMD , the processor and graphics card company, to ensure compatibility with Windows 11. Therefore, there is currently no indication that there will be any problems with this.

Until the end of this year the console does not go on sale, so there is still time to try to implement everything necessary to ensure that the console works without problems.

Some games may have problems

Another drawback that could arise is that some games may not work quite well without Windows, such as Fortnite, Destiny 2, Apex Legends or Player Unknowns Battleground.

We must also remember that the operating system of the console is SteamOS 3.0 , but since it is basically a laptop, we can install Windows and run all our games that we have on the Steam platform without any problem.

The console uses Proton software so that many unsupported Windows games can run on the Steam Deck. In fact, Valve is rumored to be putting pressure on some developers to make their games compatible with this software.

So, we will have to be attentive to see how Valve solves these possible problems that could arise both when installing Windows 11 on the console and to make some games work without problems. Although there are still several months before it can be purchased, Valve still has to work to optimize its console and offer a unique product that does not offer errors.
