However, the European Commission would be working on an alternative to guarantee 5G connectivity on board transport.
This has been made known by the entity, which seeks that European airlines collaborate in favor of this measure. As announced by the organization, passenger devices will be connected to a picocell base station, which in turn will remain connected to terrestrial networks via satellite. So it would be possible to make calls, send a text message or use the data for anything else.

Soon, all this will be a reality after the decision of the European Commission, where the EU commissioner states the following:
“5G will enable innovative services for people and growth opportunities for European businesses. The sky is no longer the limit when it comes to the possibilities offered by super-fast, high-capacity connectivity.”
At the moment, the government body has not provided details on when the 5G service for plane passengers could come into effect . Likewise, this is very positive news considering that users have always been urged to establish Airplane Mode in their terminal.
Although it is true that, in recent years, measures in this regard have been relaxed. In fact, it was in 2014 when the European Union Aviation Safety Agency updated the guidelines to indicate that airlines do not need to require passengers to use this option .
On the other hand, the International Air Transport Association explained to The Telegraph that 5G technology will not generate safety problems on flights, since it uses different wave frequencies from those used in the communications cabin. Mobile phones use the 5 GHz spectrum, while airplanes use the 4.2 GHz – 4.4 GHz range.
