If you have the Google app installed on your iPhone, there’s a highly convenient trick that allows you to search for images directly from your photo gallery. The best part is that you don’t need to open Safari or any other browser, nor do you have to launch the Google app itself. If you’re eager to learn how this functionality works, we’ll guide you through the process in this post.
It’s a tool called Google Lens

Google’s image search system includes a powerful tool called Google Lens. This feature enables you to search the internet using images you upload to the search engine. If you’re using an iPhone, there’s a nifty trick that allows you to leverage this functionality and search directly from your saved photos.
To access this feature on an iPhone, you can find it within the Photos application itself, under the image sharing options. When viewing an image, look for the image sharing icon located in the lower-left part of the screen. Tap on it, and a menu will appear with various available options for sharing the image and interacting with other applications or moving the image to different locations.

To utilize this functionality, you’ll need to access the “Search Google Lens” option. Once selected, a tab will appear at the bottom of the screen, featuring a blue button labeled “See results.” Tapping on this button will open the installed Google app, displaying images related to or closely resembling the photo you initiated the search with.
This tool is completely free to use and should already be visible if you have the Google app installed. However, if you don’t see it in the Share options, there’s a simple solution. Within the Share menu, scroll to the bottom of the screen and locate the “Edit actions…” button.
Under the “Other actions” section, you’ll find the option to enable “Search with Google Lens.” Make sure the green switch is activated, and it will then appear in the list of actions within the Share menu.
It’s worth noting that the accuracy of the search results may vary depending on the type of image you’re searching for. This tool performs best with objects that are clearly distinguishable from the background and even includes text recognition within images. Thanks to this clever trick, you can now effortlessly and promptly search for images on the internet in a simplified manner.

Another way to access Google Lens is through the Google app itself. Within the app’s search bar, you’ll notice a camera icon. By tapping on this icon, the entire section with all of Google Lens’ functions will open up. The camera function offers a range of capabilities, allowing you to:
1. Translate text: Use your camera to instantly translate text in real-time.
2. Search by text: Capture text from images and search for related information.
3. Search by images: Take a photo or upload an image to find similar or related images.
4. Search in documents and academic texts: Extract text from documents or books for further exploration.
5. Search for products: Scan barcodes or images to discover information about products, read reviews, and find online purchasing options.
6. Explore sites and locations: Point your camera at landmarks or locations to obtain relevant information and explore nearby attractions.
7. Find specific restaurants: Use the camera to identify restaurants and access their reviews, ratings, menus, and other useful details.
With these functionalities, Google Lens within the Google app provides a versatile and comprehensive tool for various visual search needs.
