Update Huawei Band 4: What's New and How to Install

Huawei Band 4, an interesting proposal

Although Xiaomi has practically monopolized the smart wristband market with its Mi Band 4 band, there are other alternatives on the market that are equally interesting. This is the case of the Band 4 by Huawei, a model very much in line with what to ask for this type of device, with a large color screen, comfort when wearing it on the wrist and useful features.

In case you do not know it, this Band enjoys a 0.96-inch touch panel , works with both Android and iOS, receives various notifications from your phone and has a 91 mAh battery, with which it is capable of offer a range of about 6 days. One of the most special and comfortable qualities it has is its charging connector : it comes with the directly built-in USB connector, so you only have to “disassemble” the strap at one end and plug it into any port.

Like many other wristbands, it allows heart rate monitoring and comes with smart alerts, via vibrations, if it detects that your heart rate exceeds a maximum average heart rate. It also measures your sleep and the quality of your rest (in addition to giving suggestions for better rest) and, of course, it can take exhaustive control of your activity, whether daily or sports, with the recognition of several different types of exercises. You will get data on your heart rate, heart rate zone, steps, distance, speed and calories, among others.

If all these benefits seemed enough to you, now the bracelet has received an update with which it expands its qualities, including an interesting meter: that of our blood oxygen level.

Now with SpO2 meter

The Band 4 was pending to offer users a feature for which it was prepared but had not activated at launch. We refer to the measurement of blood oxygen , a function that now reaches all wristbands by software update.

Good blood oxygenation is necessary to supply energy to the muscles, which is why it is an important fact to assess when doing physical exercise. While the levels are between 90% and 100% this is a normal value, however, below 89% it could be indicative that you need to stop exercising (or even consult a doctor if it is repeated often this value).

Now the Huawei Band 4 will be able to offer you this information, in addition to having improved the experience during sports control and Alarms, like other novelties to highlight. Likewise, the manufacturer claims to have fixed some screen problems although it does not specify more about it.

How to update Huawei Band 4

The update package, which weighs 5.46 MB, should appear sooner rather than later on your phone to proceed with the installation – please note that it is a global release, so it may take a while for it to reach everyone. It is managed, of course, through the Huawei Health application, the same one that you use to access the data and settings of your bracelet.

The steps to follow are very simple:

  1. Make sure you have Bluetooth enabled on the wristband and it is paired with your phone.
  2. Within the Huawei Health app, go to Devices.
  3. Tap on the name of your bracelet.
  4. Tap on Firmware Update and follow the instructions for installation.

The process will take about 20 minutes (and you need the bracelet to be 20% hands charged). Keep that in mind.
